Okay, after spazzing out about how proud of this I am I thought I'd add an actual artist's comment. So, I'm obviously really really happy I could pull this off. I know I still have a ways to go in the world of digital painting, but getting this far makes me celebrate. I thought I was starting to lose my skill but this has proved me wrong. I was weary about doing something with no line art, because that would mean I would have to shade everything actually correctly. (lulz) but I'm actually very pleased with how my shade came out.

It was hard to choose the colors for this and even now I'm not sure if I should have made her eyes more purple and her hat, scarf, ect. more red. But I left it dark purple, since I couldn't make up my mind.

The hand was a walk on a tight rope. I just threw it up there, and I'm really glad I did. It gives the picture a sense of realness, instead of her just being a still statue. I was just scared I wouldn't be able to draw it well, but here it came out pretty well proportioned.

I feel like I should have put more shading into her hair, honestly. The lighting in the picture mixed with the snow though would make her hair look white, I would think, which is why I left it shaded the way it was. When drawing the hair I start out with a rich- almost brown-blond. When I'm done bending it I change the lightness and vibrancy of the color of her hair. So I liked it rather white, instead of a dark color. It gives the picture a more sense of winter.

I tried to draw buildings from Moscow in the back of the picture, if you can see them at all. I feel like everything blend in too much and she doesn't really pop, but I guess I'll work on bringing the character out in my next picture.

If you're wondering about the hat and why it has the soviet flag on it, it's because (as most people should know) that is the hat that Russia gave Moscow when she returned as the capital. It had the Russian flag of the time sewed onto it, and since the hat is precious to Moscow, she would never try to cover up the flag.
