Description

Holy in the oxford dictionary states it is to be dedicated or consecrated to God. In other dictionaries it is to be set apart or be worthy of complete devotion. That is our definition of what is or what is being Holy. God however has a different meaning of what is Holy. God is an example of what is or being Holy, which is one is perfect in all goodness and righteousness.

In 1 Peter 1:16 “because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” God represents of what is right and Holy that is in the Earth. We however do not represent what is Holy or we are not being Holy ourselves. Many “christians” today had forgotten the true definition of what is being Holy before God. They believe that they are Holy because they follow the standards of modern Christianity, but they are not because they follow a false version of the Christianity the Bible speaks about.

God called Israel to be Holy before him, and to show the greatness that God worked through Israel to all the other nations during that time. However, Israel succeeded and failed to be Holy as God commanded like in Leviticus 11:45 “For I am the Lord who brought you up out of the land of Egypt to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.”

Through Jesus Christ himself, he is calling for us to be Holy just like him. To be Holy is to be set apart from the things of the world. Being Holy is to be different, not the same as the doctrine of men. An example of being Holy is like seeing a lot of black shirts but seeing one that is white which represents someone living in the Holiness of God. Because they live obeying the commandments of the word of God, living everyday as in the service of God, and being the light for others that are in the darkness.

In 1 Peter 2:9 it says that “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” This verse shows us of God calling us to be Holy. God said we are a Holy nation that is meant to be the river of flowing water to other people who need to be saved from the darkness of this world.

Start rejecting the ways of the world, and start living for the greatness of God. Start being the Holy nation, his special people so that you may shine the light of God unto others. Repent of your sins, accept Jesus Christ into your life, and start living Holy today. God bless you.
