Scoria: it gets very hot underneath its feathers. It often fluffs them out dramatically to let air in. Standing near it while it does this, one can feel the heat radiating from it.
Pumice: as it grows, it no longer needs its markings. In certain lights, or when it fluffs out its feathers, faint remnants of its markings can still be seen.

Possible moves to learn: flamethrower, running and kicking moves. Probably feather dance as well.
