Description Shapes on a Wall is pretty much a literal recreation of an image that came to me in a dream a while ago. It looked a bit better in my dream, but I didn't have to worry about test renders there.

even a 5x7 in a larger mat, and simple black or silver frame, would make it look all the cool too...
unless you just dont want to and are making up excuses...

Yeah that's true. The print is available through the DA Store [link] which has a good quality product.

Thanks. Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble creating this at a decent resolution. Even though I photographed the background texture myself (at a good res) I could not get the render to look respectable at larger sizes. The best I could do was about a 5 x 7" print

I haven't tried upscaling in Photoshop, that may get some result.

nice....what program do you use to make this??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cranial-bore In reply to oloferla [2008-06-27 11:30:16 +0000 UTC]

3ds max modeling (though any 3d program would do) and finalRender to render. The bg is a photographic texture.

from me, like it a lot very nice colours and the background fits so well with the vivid colours of the 3d shapes.

did you use a texture for background?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cranial-bore In reply to r2on [2007-05-25 22:48:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.
The texture is photographed concrete, rendered in the 3d prog with bump mapping and also some photoshop work with blending modes to give it the "glowy" look

What program do you use?

as always.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cranial-bore In reply to BlackScarletLove [2007-03-03 23:58:52 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I used 3ds max and finalRender, and then some layer and blending mode work in Photoshop.
The BG texture is one that I photographed, but I had a lot of trouble getting it to render well at high res. It kept looking pixelated even when rendered below its native resolution...so unfortunately no prints available.

The image in my dream used sub surface scattering, but it was taking too long to render and I wasn't able to get the look I want, so I went without.

mahguru In reply to cranial-bore [2007-03-29 13:19:13 +0000 UTC]

So is that why there's no prints? I was gonna go and buy this as a print in the shop, but it's only a mousepad.

Man, that sucks, awesome render though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cranial-bore In reply to mahguru [2007-03-29 23:25:29 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I would have liked a print of this myself, but I just couldn't get that texture to look good at higher resolution.
I could probably offer a 5x6 print, but why bother?
