Description The featured work of JJcanvas 's Creative Crate. On creating this work, JJcanvas had the following to share:

"I’ve had this idea of a huge tree made of “cosmic stuff” ever since I saw the ending credits for the first Thor movie, in which we get a really cool fly-through Yggdrasil, the Norse mythology tree, and in the movie it is depicted as being made of nebulas, stars and all sorts of cosmic stuff. So I wanted to do something inspired by that which turned into this piece. I decided to have the trunks of the tree be “normal” and only the top part be made of the cosmos, to give the feeling that the trunks of the tree themselves are a sort of path to a higher cosmic dimension or something like that. I’ve set it all in the ocean and painted the boats to give it a feeling of discovery, so that the viewer can imagine what it would be like to be on one of those ships and have a sight like this!

The reason for only having one layer is that it’s just pretty much how I work! I try to use as few layers as possible, and when I create new ones I’m constantly merging them into one. I only create new layers either as a “safeguard” so that I can experiment with something new in the image, or to use some sort of layer blending (like overlays), but immediately merge it down as soon as I can. I just don’t like to work on separate layers - this does have disadvantages sometimes, but the more simple, to the point and traditional workflow just works best for me personally."
