Description So this isn't a painting -- I'd originally assembled this version as a reference for a physical oil-on-canvas painting I'd been working on for my brother, though time constraints lead me to finishing the digital version and printing it as a poster instead. Once I'd decided to go that route, I cleaned up the component parts, including this kickawesome miniature www.deviantart.com/art/Fallout… (123samo has since given me permission to use it. Sorry for the long wait, if you remember me mentioning it at all). I then recoloured it so everything matched, scaled it up to poster-size, and painted over it in Artrage using the oil brush, paint scraper, and airbrush to get the sort of movie-poster look I was going for.
All in all, it was a fun project.

If you'd like to read more about how I made it, and snag the higher-rez poster-sized version (because I'm either misunderstanding deviantart's interface or can't upload a bigger version) stop by www.contentfortheinternet.com . We've got science fiction stories, comics, artwork, miscellaneous tutorials and more! Probably!

Thank you very much! (Sorry for the late response, I've been away for awhile.) I think the best term I've heard to describe this sort of thing was photobash, though I might be wrong. Pretty much everything was a picture to begin with, including the ranger and the backgrounds (I think the sky was two or three pictures overlapped and erased ect, the mountains were two, and the trees in the foreground came from... somewhere... wish I'd saved the sources back when I made it.) It was pretty slapped together when it was just a reference but once I went with the poster idea, I adjusted the all colors to match and painted over everything in Artrage, which did a nice job of covering any bad edges or changes in resolution. All in all, it was a really fun project, and I'll have to do something similar some time, especially now that I've got some more real drawing/painting experience and can recognize some of my mistakes. If you want more details, I think I wrote it up better at www.contentfortheinternet.com/… .

Amazing artowrk, even if you did use the background for a previous project from what I understand. So you did the ranger and a few finishing touches in a program that non-the less must have taken quite a bit of time. Ranger blends in perfectly with the lighting and detail coming out really well.
