Description Hallucination is the perception of phenomena, persons or things that do not exist and have no real stimulus. The difference between a hallucination and a delusion is that a delusion is a disorder of thought, whereas a hallucination is a disorder of perception. In addition, in the case of a hallucination, a person can sometimes be aware that what he perceives is not real (but this does not happen in people with dementia). Hallucinations can be simple (for example, only light or sound), more complex (silhouette of a character, an object with details or a melody) and can "involve" several senses at once, e.g. the "apparition" of a fairy flying around, scattering fragrant flowers while he sings. However, hallucinatory experiences are rarely so positive. More common are images of strangers entering the patient's room and talking to or about him. Sometimes tactile hallucinations also occur, when the patient has the feeling that someone is touching him, something is crawling on him, or he "senses" poisonous gas that someone allegedly lets into his apartment.
