In my eyes it is still as beautiful as the day it was made. Why? 2-10-0s never die. They move to Russia.

We hope to get her restored cosmetically. But we have to remove the asbestos from under her boiler jacket first. That's no easy task, and that's why she is where she is.

And of course that stuff is toxic and lathered all over the boiler. But I guess back then they didn't know any better, ala smoking and lead-based paint.

I've got an idea! Round up the most annoying foamers in the country and tell them they can touch it. They don't know what it is. All they know is GS-4.

They'll let 4449 run over their $500-$1000 cameras and will drive/walk right in front of it, so they'd probably start collecting the asbestos in glass labelled jars to sell on Ebay.

Most likely, but it's illegal as hell now to even sell it.

They don't know that.
They think you can run a locomotive down a 25% grade smokestack-first without anything going wrong. They think 4' 8.5" is the only gauge in the world. Live steam is a mystery to some of them. They buy 5 of the same (expensive) locomotive and only ever use one of them.

They DID pay to ride behind an 0-6-0 at Strasburg with a face. And it's dead, soulless eyes that stare into the very minds of those who see it.

And that 'thing' trying to devour my soul is the very reason the Amish nearby shun electricity, for on it's radiant screens is the face of pure endless nightmares.

Dan Daru makes the whole thing funny.

Here's the best analog for the face-thing and the engine beneath.

I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me.
He's just a poor boy from a poor family,
Spare him his life from this monstrosity.

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let him go!)
Bismillah! We will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Will not let you go. (Let me go!)
Never, never let you go
Never let me go, oh.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Oh, mama mia, mama mia (Mama mia, let me go.)
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me, for me.

It sounds so surreal. Is this how the crew of the Conrail units from Chase, Maryland heard everything around them? No wonder they didn't know Amtrak wasΒ coming, their brains were half baked.
