Wow, really? You really like them? o.o
XD if you're interested in rping, you're welcome to visit markofshadow.com
It's my rping website. I'm going to bed right now, and most of my friends are offline, so it will be empty till tomorrow morning, but it will get active again.
In the meantime you're welcome to browse and kinda see my RPs and how I write.

I don't mind one-on-ones, but I always play on a forum. It's not that I haven't tried msn/aim, it's just that I can't get into RPing that way. I've attempted a few times, and a couple of them were fun for awhile, but ultimately I always do better in a forum setting.
I tend to write very long posts and enjoy compiling RPs as if they were stories.

Sounds fair, I typically use IM's myself, namely Steam, because I can play games whilst rping XD but also it allows interaction with the other person to flow better, so if there's an issue for whatever reason, it's easy to talk and get it sorted, or Plot discussions flow a lot easier.
but at the same time, I tend not to write long posts. Nonetheless, I'll take a look at the forums when I can, as this'll be my first real experience with forum rps, since the last one I tired shut down

well I'll take that as a chance the forum wont die soon XD
Anyways, what do we need to do to get this rp going? As I appreciate I need an account, but I'm not sure if you make a thread specially, or if I make a thread, etc
-goes to make account and read the forum rules-
Also, where do we discuss what we want to rp? XD

CNVas In reply to Necrosis103 [2011-03-08 17:45:52 +0000 UTC]
We can discuss here, over pm on my forum, or in the shoutbox. Or you can discuss in the general discussions area too.
I start lots of RPs, but if you have an idea, you're welcome to start as well. There are active RPs already going too, so you can pop in and look at those to see if any of them interest you.

Well now I've joinned in, I will most likely jump into the group rps, but I'd still like a one on one as I do have a pair of settings I'd like to try out, on being a Dominion Research facility (an excuse to make mad things happen) and then the other being the homeworld of a seperatist sect of Protoss.
So I'm not sure how we'd start this still.

CNVas In reply to Necrosis103 [2011-03-08 20:32:47 +0000 UTC]
well, what sort of RP are you looking for? an adventure type? a forum story type? a "town" type forcusing on the research facility and how it works?

Hmmm. i sort of have a research facility rp that could start up again, but it you wanted to make one, i'd l;ike to know more about these hybrids and how they came to be.

Necrosis103 In reply to CNVas [2011-03-09 10:57:06 +0000 UTC]
The Hybrids? Well my main scientist character, Dr Sucrine, is a defected UED Xenobiologist who has little care about who he works for. He started out with attempting to control the Zerg, for instance using low level psychics with the dominate ability to try and brainwash a really tiny hive cluster in one of the labs. Another would be the use of cybernetically altered Overlords which recieve orders from a human computer instead of Kerrigan
But I digress, in the secret mission of SC2 the raider's visit the Castanar facility (which I'm going to assume you've played?) there's all the mutated hybrid clones. He runs a similar experiment with his own Hybrid, but instead of cloning the one he's got, he tries to improve on the base design and create his own Hybrids
So the Mark 1 'S-Class' Hybrid is more Zergling with protoss traits. This was made via modifying the DNA in the Spawning Pool of the hive cluster assigned to the Hybrid project. Then the Mark 2s are flash grown Protoss children with inert Zerg DNA incorporated into them. Then the Mark 3 is an improvement on that, with more powerful psionics (essentially high templar grade), of which there is currently only one.
But these guys weren't going to be the focus of our rp, the captive Protoss were, as there are experiments on Protoss biology and interaction going on as well (this isn't all run by one guy, Sucrine just mostly sits in his office and dishes out the money to each department.)

That sounds pretty interesting. What time period does your idea take place in?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Necrosis103 In reply to CNVas [2011-03-31 23:18:57 +0000 UTC]
There really isn't a specific period of time. Sucrine defects after Brood War, so practically he would be in the state he is now anywhere between 3-4 years after the brood war till beyond SC2. As I can't predict the future, I will not know if I have to force any events upon my little facility.
Though as for the break out I plan to have happen, I'd say that happens during the events of SC2.
Basically the events can be twisted to suit the needs of the roleplay as I so desire, but it's around SC2, maybe a year or two before.

okay, that doesn't sound too shabby. if you feel like setting up a roleplay you're welcome to. I don't have a character to use immediately, but I'm sure i can think of one. and maybe one of our other starcraft RPers would join in.

I wonder, do Protoss deals with waste like humans/Terrans do?
You know um, using the bathroom?

CNVas In reply to EmeraldKeefe [2011-02-25 04:13:53 +0000 UTC]
Nope. they don't have much waste. What little they have can be released in their sweat so that it can be washed away

XD I agree.
And yes, I do believe they carry babies the same way humans do (albeit over a longer span of time.)

Hmmm, interesting. I'd like to see a picture of a pregnant Protoss now. XD
And what do you mean a longer period of time, how much are we talking about exactly? Sorry, just trying to get a feel for Protoss since I'm kinda new to the Starcraft franchise. It was the SC2 cinematics that pulled me in.
^.^

Protoss live for a very long time, upwards of a thousand years if they don't get killed in battle. They are also considered to be "pure of form", meaning that their bodies are as perfect as a mortal being's body can function. Protoss reach sexual maturity around 100 years old, so it stands to reason that their development would be equally slow in the womb.
It probably takes a couple of years, maybe as many as 5 even.

EmeraldKeefe In reply to CNVas [2011-02-26 20:16:18 +0000 UTC]
Ha, awesome!!! But wow, that's a long time to be pregnant. I wonder if maybe they have short pregnancies and childhoods though, I can't imagine someone taking care of a baby for 50 years. XP
I love Protoss as a race and characters for the most part. I only really like Infested Kerrigan as a Zerg mainly because she's the one you love to hat eand makes excellent villain fodder. I used to like the Zerg but whn I actually looked at actual pictures of them, instead of cutesy fanart, my goodness, bleck!!! Protoss on the other hand are awesome!!! ^.^ I wonder what the Xel'Naga would've thought of the Terrans though? Hey do you want to continue this in e-mail, chat or notes?

CNVas In reply to EmeraldKeefe [2011-02-26 23:24:33 +0000 UTC]
I can't imagine that their babies would grow super fast, when it's already known that they age very slowly. It may seem like a long time to us, but to protoss who live longer than a thousand years, it's not that long at all. It's all about perspective.
I used to like the Zerg a lot too, but I developed a passion for the protoss and now I love them the most. Although I do hope to see a good ending for Kerrigan, with her no longer being infested.

Beautiful Description, and I have to agree 100% on the ideas about the young and how they adapt. With how nimble their fingers and toes must be after many centuries of experience and battles, it would only make sense for it to be much more enhanced when they are even just newborns.
In the books having no noses or ears, they more feel sounds and smells through their sensitive skin/hide. And that is one of the first things babies become sensitized to, touch. Makes sense for an infant protoss to want to cling to its parents as closely as possible.

Exactly ^0^
I'm glad you like the description. I kinda pieced my own ideas together with everything I've read from DT saga and whatnot so that it made the most sense (to me anyway x3)
I definitely agree with you about touch being important for the babies, since it's how they "hear" and "smell" as well as feel.

But yeah, the DT saga is INCREDIBLE.
I absolutely love it. And the protoss. I can't get enough of those guys.
My three favorite tossies though have to be Artanis and Zeratul, and hilariously enough little Vartanil. *hugs him*

I want to give both of them hugs. They're so cute!
