Annie reminds me somewhat of Little Annie Fannie - am I just making that up?

Great page!

Aww that last panel is just too sweet. Makes me miss my dad He's alive, just in CT.

I love how he was going to jump from a book, lol.

Thank you, Stefanie! I have a great deal of affection for my Dad, too, and this character is based partially on him (although my dad is nowhere as goofy).

Hey Richard, glad to hear you had a great trip. NYC is a fantastic city, I've been there once myself (I have a brother who lives there).

Thanks! Opey's Dad is my favorite character to write and draw. Strangely, he has no name, though.

Wow, I LOVE the way you wrote this! Reading the first few panels, it almost sounds like Opey says its the best day of his life because his dad commits suicide, but then as the reader progresses down the page this is revealed to not be the case at all! Amazing! The pacing and layout is INCREDIBLE! (not to mention the artwork!)

cluedog In reply to mistermuck [2008-02-29 01:26:27 +0000 UTC]

Holy cow, I'm flattered by your comment. Thanks!

When I wrote this page, I was concerned that Opey would seem like he was happy his dad was about to bump himself, but then I thought, it might be more interesting if I left it dangling there until the end of the page what Opey meant by it being the greatest day in his life.

Yeah, well it works!
You're welcome! When you're done with the whole series, will you publish a graphic novel?

cluedog In reply to mistermuck [2008-02-29 04:00:35 +0000 UTC]

I hope to find a publisher for a graphic novel version of the comic after I've completed the third issue. It would certainly be awesome to see Opey in print.

Committing a suicide, standing on a phonebook, a rope that isn't short enough and can easily snap, now that's ironic and funny.

Thanks, Dave! I was concerned about the book joke, whether the joke was too weak or people would be able to make out what Opey's Dad is standing on. I'm glad it worked.
