I love seeing how surrealists and "literal" scene artists deal with abstraction. This has a nice sort of melted wax landscape quality

I like that...that is one someone hasn't come up with yet....melted wax.

Wow, acrylics? My intial impression was some sort of dry media such as pastels.  Not a bad or good thing, just interesting.  Some of the swirls of color here almost wish to become folds of fabric.  It feels like the depth of the swirls is evolving within the painting itself.

One of the things I like about acrylics is you can make them more fluid or sticky.  It is not always the most agreeable medium to work with, but with a little practice it can make the most wonderful textures.  You just can't hesitate too long since it dries so quickly.  I know I can add flow stuff to make it dry slower, but it just seems like cheating to me.  This painting was all about color.  I chose my palette and just started painting.  Truly abstract in concept since I just let my mind decide as I went.

I understand how additives can feel like cheating.  I figure, use the tools the art calls for.  People have told me for years to try masking fluid (or the like) for my watercolors but I still never have.  It just doesn't seem necessary to how I work.  I'm not ruling the material out or boycotting it, but why waste time on something when you already enjoy the medium in its purest form?

It sounds like you really had a ton of fun creating this painting :3

Thank you so much!  I have a regular job so I work on art projects when I can.  Don't know how much time I spend.  There are many nights that hours go by and seem like minutes.  There really is no way I can even guess.  Welcome to DA!

The usage of colors with this one reeeeeallly give a sense of depth and then it feels like a wall is right in front of me. . . . that and I may be lost in another dimension! XD Great piece!
