Kira was born to Kylie shortly after the latter arrived in the ruins of Antarora. Kylie knew she couldn't realistically make the journey back home with a small child, so she tried raising Kira as fast as possible. This turned out to be a good idea, because when Kylie died six years later, Kira knew enough to survive. Her own turn would come right after, when she discovered Alicia. The two grew up together, and Kira now has three of her own children. Kylie never told Kira about her true home... but that knowledge will eventually arrive in a different form.

Although Kylie taught Kira a lot, just six years of teaching can only go so far. Kira lacks social skills, and often doesn't know what people mean. Overall, she's quite dumb at times - but her mentality is to always try and be nice. She's a fast learner though, all it would take is for her to experience what it's like to not just survive, but to live.
