Awesome! My eyes are slowly looking at everything bit by bit , then all at once..Your water is fantastic, I see movement along with a very clear view of rocks and debris as it flows down stream. The birds scruffy feathers atop its head giving it that wet & dirty look, a unique structure, its foot, feathered body embracing the soil (slightly muddy) beneath, and then the Bluish scaly claws, gives me the impression of tapping the dirt. I love the roots showing above the dirt.As for lighting within the picture well, It is easy to see all the lit areas, where you add light is where it is it's your painting so it's perfect...
All of the picture's that you have shared are FANTASTIC!!!!

this is one of my favorites. C: i love the way the lighting matchesΒ and the background is beautiful! Painting job is amazing! i would just suggest a slight drop shadow beneath the vulturegryphon ciameth to further embed it into the painting and lay it within the soil. and that water. Mm! Your paintings are beautiful!

I use digital media the same as I use traditional media. This was done with a combination of the oil pastel (predominantly) and oil paint tools in Corel Painter.

Thank you so much! Reading Gurney's Color & Light was what spurred the creation of this picture. I wanted to paint something using what I had learned. It really is an excellent book!

I am honestly enjoying this. Your style makes it look like a traditional painting, and thats a compliment.
Granted, the background may be a bit too detailed, but with your style, it couldn't be any different, so I say thats a good thing. The only thing that catches my eye as an imperfection is this space between gryphon's front legs and water. That little shore, almost in the middle of the image, a bit more down, is a bit confusing. I understand that the gryphon is on a different ground level than the shore, but the water makes it look like it isn't. And so the perspective of the river/shore is a tad strange for me, also because it seems like the water is both far away and few feet away from the gryphon.
So may be change a little the texture of the water, as it gets closer to the gryphon? that that shore will not look as strange?
I realize I am not expressing myself clearly, let me know if you didn't understand what I meant XD

Looking at it a little more, I came to the decisiont hat it might be night to have some other animals around and about. Not large ones that would be scared of a griffin, of course- that would be nonsensical. They aren't friendly forest creatures from a Disney movie. But maybe some dragonflies or other insects, or some little fish or snails or mussels in the water. I don't know.

Yes, for a rainforest this scene is super empty. I'll keep that in mind when I do my edits.

It looks absolutely fabulous. The water is astounding, and you've made huge improvements in lighting since I first started watching you. A very well done, coherent piece. Love the splash of color at her shoulders! And the FOLIAGE- I envy it! Do you individually paint all of that? It's wonderful, it looks real, and not fake and nasty like it does whenever I try it.
OMG YES. You know that one Quiznos radio commercial, where the guy takes a sub to his niece's piano recital because he'll supposedly remember the recital every time he eats that sub again? Maybe you haven't heard it, I don't know, but that's what it's like to me. I'll look at a piece and be able to instantly recall what I was listenign to at the time. For example, while I was painting a ceramic box several years ago, my parents were watching Ugly Betty in the next room. I don't even watch the show, and I could tell you the exact episode they were watching while I worked. It's nutty. I didn't know anybody else actually had that happen!

Since there's a commercial (somewhat) on this topic, it probably happens to lots of people! Now I just need to find a neuroscientist to tell me why.
