So you're the guy who read Kazar. I knew someone must have. Just kidding. He's kind of an under-appreciated Marvel character. Thank you for all the kind words.

My father was the late 60's to the 85's, 20 century bought various comics. Of which I continued to read, but most of these comics are misplaced or given to someone, and someone never returned, or are some simply collapsed comics from moisture and mold.ย
somehow more favorite comics that I read were: Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor, Ka-Zar, Tarzan,Super-man, Phantom, Zagor, Star Trek, Spider-Woman, Modesty Blaise, Conan...there are a lot of comics who've had one room to almost ceiling (haha),After I bought comics after the 90s, but my interest in comics to read ended up in 1995. Simply weaker comic was to be purchased, and the price is drastically increased. Until I started reading again since 2004. so far, I usually read Manga comics., plus a host of other comics that have had some series of publication . How European comics, and Western. Here in Serbia interest in comic books ended up in the mid 90-ies of the past century, few publishers are still active today and turned it into comics in Serbian with English language, the art is simply to earn a living. Maybe in the U.S. and Europe interest in comics is still strong, and here in Serbia to see a comic artist, usually seen in a gallery, and it is rare.
I'm a little gone awry from story of the Kazar

Very cool! I love seeing how other people color my pics. It's always a bit of a surprise. This is definitely no different. This is a very unique color scheme, that I probably never would've thought of. Good job playing around with the ink opacity too. Makes a big difference. Zabu is different hehe..He's actually an orange/brown color in the comics, but I like your choice better. Makes him stand out a lot more. Nicely done!

Your lineart style inspires me to try it. do you have a tutorial anywhere?
๐: 0 โฉ: 1
ChristopherStevens In reply to tsau-mia [2008-04-23 18:19:28 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. No, sure don't. I've never had any tutorials to look at either though. I just study the works of my favorite guys and some of it seeps in. Check out Tim Townsend's gallery to see where a lot of my inspiration comes from. I've learned a lot just by looking at his work. Some of his style has definitely rubbed off on me as a result.

Royd....Royd...nope, never heard of you. Glad you're happy with it, mate. I know Kazar doesn't usually have a spear, but it seemed right for the piece. I'll be honest..I thought it needed something else. The lines were there, but I wanted another element...the result? Kazar's packin a spear hehe.

Nice take on Kazar. Love the character. Use to really love how Mike Wieringo drew him. Good stuff.

ChristopherStevens In reply to WillCaligan [2008-04-20 22:35:08 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. Yeah, 'Ringo could make any character look fun. I wasn't trying to go with any particular version of the character. He's one of the few that you can experiment with and have it still look right. I did really like Andy Kubert's take though..and Michael Golden's back in the day.

Yeah, Andy's rocked. Of course it helped that Mark Waid was writing it but it is still one of my favs even today.

wow I love the play on shadows and lights with this. The line work feels more natural without all the connecting lines to draw out the outline and shapes of everything.
Great work!

ChristopherStevens In reply to Jc2theW [2008-04-20 22:38:06 +0000 UTC]
Thanks. I think you're referring to the white outline on everything. If so, then yeah I agree. It's a simple but effective way to keep stuff clear. I stole it from Tim Townsend. Not sure where he got it hehe.

Thanks..uuummm..I don't know hehe. I don't manage the gallery, so I'm not sure why the images aren't bigger. The scans are bigger than this of course, but once they show up here, they're small. I'll ask about it.
