Description The Umibozu is a giant sea spirit said to sink the ships of those bold enough to speak to it. Its name comes from the Japanese characters for "sea" and "Buddhist monk," possibly due to it's head giving the appearance of being shaven.

They are said to be drowned priests, and if angered by a mere human speaking to them they will ask the ship crew for barrels which it then fills with water and pours into the ship to sink it. Avoiding this fate means giving the spirit a bottomless barrel.
