Description

New campaign \o/ Rogue fit better than wizard, so that's what i am. he's still essentially the same character, just as gay and sarcastically optimistic, but now lawful neutral instead of neutral evil. DM is like my bff, so he okay'd me playing the same character since i never got closure for the previous (abandoned) campaign.

Backstory for anyone interested :U (last sentence makes it really obvious what module we're playing lmao):

Alaris Khalune (Ah-LAR-iss kah-LOON-ay) was the third-born child, first-born son of a minor noble house in Menzoberranzan. Due to his “duty” as a male noble, his bringing up was extremely strict, with the female members of his family determining everything from where he could go, to what he ate and the exact amount, to who he talked to, in the hopes of grooming him to be the perfect consort. It was continuously hammered into him that his worth was as the perfect mate, and as he grew older he resented this.

Eventually, Alaris began to figure out ways to escape the confines of the estate, gradually learning more refined ways to make his way past a lock, or to escape notice. Soon after these frequent escapes began, he began to subtly sabotage his own family in whatever ways he could. This eventually brought him to the attention of a cell of Vhaeraun worshippers. They contacted him, he learned of their dogma, and he began to believe Vhaeraun was the singular source of hope for redeeming Drow society. After the standard interview, he had officially joined, and found purpose in serving his religion.

Due to a fluke, Alaris was eventually caught while attempting to leave the estate. He was immediately put on lockdown, and his family decided it was time for him to “contribute” to the household, playing matchmaker and searching for a House that would take their son. They were delighted when, almost immediately, they found a match for him in Sabrae Torath, a high ranking priestess who was known to go through consorts insanely fast. While her consorts’ fates were officially unknown, their disappearances made it simple to read between the lines.

In the days where preparations were being made, Alaris worked tirelessly to prepare for escape. He listened at the door, learning the patterns of the guards outside, and carefully kept his poison and tools hidden during the random, chaotic visits from his family. The night before he was destined to join House Torath, he packed a few essentials, and waited until only one guard was in the hall. He quickly picked the lock and stabbed the guard in the neck with a poisoned sewing needle, then kept her quiet until she died. Taking her weapon, he snuck his way to his family’s treasury, taking whatever gold and valuable trinkets he could carry when he got there.

Miraculously managing to escape otherwise undetected, Alaris briefly considered contacting his cell for help. Ultimately deciding that would only bring trouble, he instead made his way to a known surface merchant, offering him a huge sum for smuggling him to the surface. Once there, he only had the most minimal of plans. He wandered for a while, doing what he could for Vhaeraun as he went from town to town and living off the money from selling the heirlooms he brought with him from the Underdark. This money eventually ran out, however, and he soon found the skills he used to desecrate Lolth’s temples and steal from her priestesses worked just as well for survival. Alaris jumped between various employers, uncaring whether or not the job he was contracted for was legal, so long as it brought in money and fit with his odd code of conduct. He never stayed in one place for too long, paranoid that someone from the Underdark would eventually find him, and gradually made his way to the Sword Coast in the 40 years since his escape.

Eventually, his work with surface Drow caused him to head to Greenest, where a contact was supposed to meet him for unknown reasons.
