Like most of her breed, June is quite and docile. The amount of beings June emotionally invests herself in are very limited. Though she tries to be courteous to everyone, it's very rare for her to open herself up to a friendship. However, once she's chosen you as a friend, you've got one for life. Social interactions are a bit difficult and tiresome for June which is why she usually chooses to stay in the company of her own thoughts. June seldom starts conversation unless the situation is completely necessary. Conversations outside of friends are kept only as long as it is needed to get the point across. June does what she's asked without question simply to avoid unwanted conversation. This has lead others to see her as dependable and trustworthy.

June is a commendable athlete, excelling in speed and capable of taking down medium sized game. She’s very tactical and efficient while coursing. If she has the disadvantage or the chase seems to be going on for too long, June will end her pursuit. She’s not one to push her luck or go the extra mile if it doesn’t seem worth it. Hunting aside, June loves to run, it’s one of her favorite sensations.

June tends to over analyze things and gets herself overwhelmed. Not many notice this because she doesn't like passing her discomfort onto others. She’d be happy to quietly listen to the trouble of others though. Secrets can’t get much safer than with June.

Pre-Group History

June’s masters, an elderly couple named Samuel and Abigail are owners the Sapphire Hills Equestrian Ranch. At one point in history, the ranch was once a farm that grew flax but had been abandoned and taken back by nature by the time Abigail’s parents bought the property and built the ranch. Most of the land remains untamed and flax still grows sporadically, sprinkling the property in blue flowers, thus inspiring the name of the ranch.

When Abigail was 19 she left home to go live with some of her relatives in Scotland. It was there she met Samuel, a fun loving outdoorsman with a passion for deerhounds. The two fell madly in love and were soon married. Being sucked into Sam’s obsession, Abby agreed to get their first deerhound. The couple named him Lance. As a hobby and a way to exercise Lance, Sam taught him coursing. Now Lance was never intended to be anything more than a companion but Abby believed that Lance was so exceptional at the sport that they just had to enter him in a competition. Turns out she was right and some time and several trophies later, everyone was wanting Lance’s puppies, and the couple were happy to meet the demand.

After seven years in Scotland, Abigail brought her new family home to Sapphire Hills so she could learn how to run and eventually take over her parent’s business. Most of the work was divided among hired employees but someone was needed to manage the ranch. The couple learned to balance Sapphire Hills and their deerhound breeding very well and what made things even better was the dogs and the horses along as well. The Deerhounds even seemed to take on a guardian role over the ranch.

Now, much older and no longer able to keep up with the workload, Samuel and Abigail have since retired. Their son who lives off the property, now manages the ranch and they sold the remaining dogs of Lance’s lineage save for their two prized older dogs, Steel and Stella. June was their daughter and the last pup the couple would raise. Being an elder dog, there were complications in Stella’s pregnancy and June was the only pup to make it. June’s time with her parents was brief but in that short time she was truly treasured. Never before had her parents been able to fully watch one of their pups grow up and they did their best in passing on their traditions and practices. Stella was the first to pass and then Steel. June was heartbroken but remained strong with the help and comfort from her owners.

Abigail and Samuel take great care of June and despite their old age, Sam and Abby are still as lively as ever. Samuel still manages to take her out coursing and Abigail likes to take her on her many outings. Some may think June more of a pet than a farm dog now but June knows what she is and what’s in her blood.

June greatly fears the day when her owners will pass as her parents did.
