Hawkdusk was born to a mother that thought he was the scourge of the earth, and a father that perished a day before he opened his eyes.

Brackencry was reluctant to raise Hawkkit and Thistlekit, instead favouring Ebonykit and ignoring the other two. Hawkkit didn't mind, though Thistlekit was enraged and would often take it out on Ebonykit while their mother was asleep or ignoring all three of them. Meanwhile, Hawkkit manipulated the other queens and kits into being his friends and giving him food and other gifts.

Upon becoming an apprentice, Hawkpaw tried to ignore his siblings, but Thistlepaw was constantly by his side. Ranting about Ebonypaw's friends, how annoying he is, how he's always spending time with their mother...until he stopped. When inquired, he said he had nothing to complain about anymore. Ebonypaw also suspiciously disappeared around this time.

A few moons after they became warriors, his brother, now Thistlestorm, invited him on a patrol. The brothers and their mother would go hunting, just the three of them. By the end of the day, Brackencry was dead and Thistlestorm was exiled for murder, while Hawkdusk just got a slap on the wrist for not stopping him. Nobody found out what really happened, and he had no intention to tell anyone.

Since then, Hawkdusk has been focusing most of his free time on befriending the clan's messenger, Harestride. He doesn't answer when asked why.
