-Reserved – only around strangers, though. If you’re her friend, she’s naturally more open to you and shows more of her former “human” personality.

-Judgmental – will judge a person pretty much in the first few minutes she meets them, but can change her mind easily

-Naïve – Just a little. She used to trust others easily and both times, she nearly got killed. Thus the “reserved around strangers” thing

-Good at housework; likes to take care of others, especially Subzero; “Zero”

-Very good with mixing ingredients, mostly for potions/antidotes/drugs.

-Hates reading and writing, loves science and math.

-Will publicly show care to a friend which can sometimes embarrass them.

The Past :
Eve was born in a small, obscure town where everyone knew each other very well. The town’s main authority was a group of village elders, and most people were self-sufficient. (This town did belong to the central government, it’s just that the elders made most of the local decisions, etc.) Only once a few months did a train arrive from the “outside” to bring fashionable items from the city. Eve lived with her mother and elder brother, Markel. She never met her father since her mother had both her children before she married the man who sired them. Naturally, he ditched her. As soon as her brother, was old enough, he got a job and supported the family. Markel played the role of father, brother, and friend to Eve, and they were very close.

This hard, yet caring life continued for Eve until she turned thirteen. Suddenly, a series of animals were being found mutilated and beheaded around town. The village elders blamed these horrifying acts as the ones of a doll or contractor, and they were adamant on weeding them out for a public execution. They secretly began keeping tabs on many of the town’s children. The town’s once close society was slowly deteriorating with fear.

Eve’s life at home also began to crumble. Her mother had always been drifting in and out of depression even since her childhood, but it’d gotten especially bad in the last few years. She began to take her anger and frustration out on Eve, saying that she was stupid and useless. Eve’s relationship with her mother deteriorated quickly, but she didn’t tell her brother to spare him the extra worry. Worse, she started spending her son’s hard-earned money on alcohol or frivolous, useless items. This infuriated Eve and caused her to start hating her mother. Their relationship was the one of a ticking bomb; slowly counting down the days to destruction.

The last straw came when Eve found her mother stealing the family’s money one early morning. Her mother had been planning to run away with the money and leave her and her brother to starve. Eve couldn’t believe a mother could do such a heartless thing to her children and her anger erupted. She snatched the money away from her mother and ran to school. That was when Eve realized she no longer cared if her mother lived or died. As long as she had her brother, everything was okay.

In the afternoon, Eve decided to return home to clear things up with her brother. She took the long was from school and passed the outskirts of town. The stench of rotting flesh drifted towards her and Eve started to run. She stopped short and screamed at the sight of a dead, bloody, headless body blocking her way. She didn’t stop to look to see who it was. Eve ran and ran, nearly tripping over herself in fright. She saw something form the corner of her eye and screamed louder, certain it was a ghost. But it wasn’t. It was a blob, a lavender colored thing shaped like an onigiri. And it wouldn’t leave her alone. Eve felt herself stricken with horror. She realized that this was an “observer” and she was a hateful “doll”.

Eve wandered around for a few hours, dreading going home to her brother with the terrible news. Eventually she made up her mind and ran to tell her brother. Markel was home early and greeted her with a hug. But he frowned at the sight of her terrified face. Eve told him everything, about what their mother had been doing to her, about the money and about her being a doll. She waited for the anger, the hatred, but Markel only smiled.
You’re my only sister and my world. I would even die for you.

Eve nearly cried with relief and hugged her brother hard. He only laughed and ruffled her hair. But their joy was short-lived. Suddenly, their door burst open and three of the elders came in. They angrily seized the children and demanded to know which one of them was a doll. Eve was terrified; how had they known? But before she could say anything, Markel yelled that it was him, confessing to being the doll. The men laughed harshly. “We have found the culprit! We fear no longer. Kill him!”
The men paid no attention to Eve’s screams; they dragged Markel out roughly. But Markel had only eyes for his sister, and he smiled comforting. ”Sorry, Evie.” That was the last time Eve saw her beloved older brother.

Eve didn’t say for the public execution. She was half- crazed with grief, but she knew what to do. After taking all the money from their house as well as her brother’s switchblade, she ran, crying bitterly into the night.

After that night, Eve lost all her trust in adults. She realized just how cruel they could be, as well as how selfish and corrupted. She vowed to wipe the world clean of those who stained it with the blood of the innocent.

After a month of wandering, nearly starvation, Eve finally collapsed on the front door of a random woman. Eve woke up in a warm house with a person bending over her with a bowl of soup. The lady didn’t ask questions and nursed Eve back to health. Despite her vow to not trust adults, Eve slowly started to like her. She stayed with her for nearly half a year, while keeping the fact that she was doll hidden.

One day, Eve accidentally forgot to put her observer into her bag and it popped out, crawling into the kitchen. The woman’s screams scared Eve and she ran downstairs in panic. The lady screamed again and again, ”Monster! Monster! A doll!” She rushed at Eve with a kitchen knife and tried to kill her. Eve narrowly dodged, her movement slowed by betrayal and hurt. Eve took out her switchblade to defend herself. She accidentally thrust a little too hard and the blade slide past the woman’s arm and into her chest. She stared at Eve, wide-eyed, before falling to the ground. Eve was horrified; she had not meant to kill her, only stop her temporarily. Once again, Eve ran, and cried angrily at her own naivety. Humans hated dolls, how could she have forgotten?

The Present : News of the woman’s death by a doll spread and Eve was no longer safe anywhere in the city. She’d accidentally shown her face in public and immediately a gang of young men who hunted dolls and contractors for money began to chase her. Eve could’ve easily hid from them if they didn’t have dogs. Just as she was desperately running through an alley, a boy with pale, nearly white hair bumped into her. She stared at his face, and then saw the FBI and police chasing after him. The boy took one look at her and grabbed her by the waist. Before she could protest, he started to run towards a dead end. He presses a button on his coat and wires come out of a backpack on his back. He races faster at the wall, ice forms wings on the wires and they are thrust upwards, but they don’t have enough room left for a smooth take off so the boy is forced to trust his feet out and race up the wall. A bullet hits his wing and he struggles to stay in the air straight. The boy is running out of energy he needs to make it to the cliff face soon, in a cave there he has hidden his home. The wings won’t hold up much longer. He moves faster building up forward momentum. The wings are gone but they still sail forward toward the cave entrance. The boy wraps his body around Eve to protect her from the impending landing. He braces for the impact.

Long story short, (Lol, sorry, I don’t want to write it all, I’m a bitch like that) Eve sees him drinking bleach (his remuneration) and thinks he’s trying to commit suicide. He knows she’s a doll, and doesn’t take her “I don’t know what dolls/contractors are” crap. He suddenly passes out and Eve looks around for something to help him. In the corner of the cave there is a sort of bench with various drugs and chemicals by it and she finds a sheet of paper titled “antidote”. After mixing it quickly, she force feeds it to him.
The boy wakes up to see Eve staring at him; thanks her for saving him and tells her his name, Subzero. They form a contract make plans for the future.

After a series of mishaps happening, involving a crazy doll and contractor named Spice and Joker, the two find letters to a school named Primrose Academy. Eve wants to go, she wants a more “normal” life and Sub (of course) goes wherever she goes.
