I actually liked the earlier P2 Chell design better, despite all the hate. (This one: [link] ). Oh well.

The old design is a little...Tron-like.
Portal is more futuristic and less i'm-stuck-in-a-computer/videogame.

This is probably the best Portal 2 picture I've seen
The guns perfect, you actually make Chell recognizable just by her face and not just her clothes and portal gun like alot of others who try to draw her

I actually like this one more, it's more let down and casual. Goes with the state of aperture science labs
My favourite part of singleplaye campaign must have been the old test chambers with Cave johnson getting old and all. So much to investigate there.

I love P2 Chell's outfit, it fits and it's beautiful and I can't express how well they did on it.
It was her face that made me do a double take.
(Grief counseling and cake will be served after the rant.)
In the first Portal, Chell actually LOOKED like she woke up from stasis after 20 years. Her hair, face and make up all looked acurate. I loved her because she was DIFFERENT from all the other Valve girls, ( I think they're all different in their own good way.) but she was different in her own special way. Then in Portal 2, I noticed something. She's prettier. Way prettier than she originally was. Her lips are bigger, her face looks less like a neandrithal (Sorry Chell, your beautiful in a special way but that's what it kinda reminds me of.) and her hair is suddenly neat but with rogue bangs. And that's after a few CENTURIES. What the fuck? I'm not trying to hate on VALVe but I think they might have succumbed to the "pretty girl" and I think that's what made Chell a major turn off for me because of that. Because they tried to make her look pretty.
But thats why I like this picture. She looks like her old self. I'm glad you drew it this way, and I hope to see more of your works! -RANT OVER-

Thanks! I picked up on that slight difference in her features as well, and tried to make a point to refer to her less idealized look in the first game. I really liked that about her, too. I know a lot of people complained that she was ugly, but I didn't really think so. Just fitting less into the mold that defines the female game character visual archetype.

Mm. The earlier design, I didn't like. It just didn't exude the correct amount of Chell-ness expressed in the first game.
This design fits in with Portal 2's overall atmosphere. It gives Chell a better appearance of someone trying to escape, rather than being just another lab rat.
And I think they kinda copped out with the heel spring replacement...

I definitely prefer the Portal 2 Chell to the P1. At least now she doesn't have massive invasive surgery on her legs...

Nah, I'm waiting until the price drops, I heard the campaign is 4-6 hours maximum and since I don't care for the multiplayer, I don't think that experience is worth its price no matter the quality.

Damn this is pretty freaking good! Especially all the fore-shortening in her leg and the ASHHPD. I actually like this design more, it looks more like how the game is, you were in a testing environment and now your breaking out..

Nicely done! I love all the wires in the back and the way you've colored this, with that nifty blue light.
I liked the helmet in the original design but this one grew on me fast what with the fact that it has moar orange. I thought the orange made Chell very distinct in the first game. XD

I don't get the hate on the old design, either; it was cool. I like both versions, though.

The other design is cool but its retro inspiration doesn't really fit in the portal universe and the settings of this particular installement I think (mainly because of this aviator-thing-cap). Plus, this design, being more... "revealing", is a bit more... "merchandisable".
That said, a vintage take on portal would be totally awesome.

Oh god I hated the helmeted version. ugh! I like the newer one much better. And the BOOOOOOOTS. I'm really hoping someone does those boots at the comic con this year.
