Description
For my friend, Mikala.
I am pretty excited for MCU Doctor Strange. Mostly because we're finally going to see how Marvel Studios will handle magic. Not like Asgardian cosmic style magic, but Merlin style sorcery. The MCU TV stuff will also be introducing Ghost Rider and Iron Fist, so I'm pretty stoked about that stuff, too. Maybe we'll get a Netflix Midnight Sons series. Who knows?
Anyway, here's a few of Marvel's magic based heroes. Just some of the ones I'm most interested in, in the attire I wanted to draw.
From left to right:
Danny Rand: the Immortal Iron Fist - Danny's got that kung fu chi style magic. The kind that Ryu from Street Fighter and DnD monks use.
Victor Von Doom, Supreme Ruler of Latveria - Dr. Doom is known for his electro-mechanical prowess, but it's often forgotten that he's the second most powerful sorcerer on Earth. He learned his magic by time traveling to Camelot and studying under Morgan le Fay herself. It is likely that he would be the Sorcerer Supreme if not for Stephen Strange.
Blade: the Daywalker - Blade is Marvel's authority on vampires, or "walkers" as he calls them, being half vampire himself. He seeks to destroy the undead and their ilk wherever they stalk.
Dan Ketch: the Spirit of Vengeance, one of the Ghost Riders - There have been many Ghost Riders, humans possessed by the Spirit of Vengeance who seek painful retribution on behalf of the innocent. Ketch was the Ghost Rider when I was growing up, and his is the image most think of when they think of Ghost Rider, with the spikey spikes and chainy chains.
Stephen Strange: Sorcerer Supreme - Dr. Strange is THE magical defender of Earth. The most powerful magic user in his dimension and one of Marvel's most powerful beings period.
Illyana Rasputin: Magik - Sister of the X-Man Colossus, Illyana was very young when she was kidnapped to a realm of demons where she was tortured and raised to use dark magic. She returned to her home dimension not long after she had left, but to her many years had passed. Her powers usually manifest with magic armor and a firey long sword. When she over uses her powers, she loses herself to her more sinister side, calling herself Darkchylde with her more demonic features and temperament. Seen here with Lockheed, her draconic friend, and in her early New Mutants attire.
Wanda Maximoff: the Scarlet Witch - Once a member of the Brotherhood of Mutants, she reformed and became a standard member of the Avengers and the X-Men. While Wanda's probability altering powers are a result of her mutation, she's also a practitioner of the mystic arts as well, having studied with the witch Agatha Harkness.
Faiza Hussain: Excalibur - Once merely a talented surgeon, she was visited in a vision by Merlin, and guided to the resting place of the sword Excalibur. She has some interesting telekinesis abilities that allow her to temporarily surgically bisect anyone without harming them, and the sword itself also possesses all the powers it is known for from myth.
