The Golden Ship

Only by night would it appear
when the blue lark sang once a year,
a golden vessel on the sea
great and splendorous mystery
it’s sails filled with ancient wind,
a phantom on a calm night sea.

Many a weary sailor was lured
to the treasure the ship assured,
but when they drew near the ship would wane
And only its memory they would sustain.

Raging on a tranquil sea
against the tides in history
a ship under the midnight sky
fighting waves it could never pass by.

Every year it could be found
traveling on without a sound
Ever voyaging to the west
on its covert, impossible quest.
