Description Van Nuys to install school cameras

But are these systems really effective?
Jennifer Kang, a student at Granada Hills Charter High School, said, "I think my school's security cameras are essential for student safety. I dont think any student should be against it unless they're breaking school rules in the first place."
Louis Mun, a sophomore at Cleveland High School, which also appears to have security cameras installed, said that he hardly notices them, and that "it doesn't feel like i'm being watched at all." He also said that security cameras help to determine how fights broke out.
Another student, Tracy Wong from Green Hope High School, NC, said, "I believe security cameras are helpful, especially if things are stolen.
But in a survey of 20 Van Nuys Students from 9th-11th grade, when asked if they supported Van Nuys's installing a security camera system, 1 was indifferent, 2 said yes, and 17 said no.
Why don't Van Nuys students welcome the added safety?
Sophomore Alin Kim says that "Security Cameras for Van Nuys would be a complete waste of funding. The money can go to more useful things." Junior Jeffrey Lee, also thought they were a waste of money. He said, "It's like putting security cameras in a library."
Junior Daniel Song simply said, "We need our privacy." Junior Daniel Lee described such a system as "prison-like," and Junior Alice Kang described it as "Unnecessary."
Students at Van Nuys don't seem to welcome security cameras, and students who already have them tend to view them as a valuable asset.
Hyun Lee, a student who transfered from a school with security cameras (Concord High) to a boarding school without them (NCSSM) said that security cameras are "highly unecessary in places other than the school's entrance. But personally, they make me feel uncomfortable."
