Description A lot of people don't get 'geek' culture...but really, as a geek, I never understood that.

We may have a lot of loves 'normies' find strange, but they're NOT so strange.  Really!  For one elemental and important thing, what geeks and normies hold dear are heroes.  The ideal of putting yourself on the line for others, for your values, for virtues like honor and justice and other precious things bigger than ourselves, is as important as you can imagine.  Heroes lead the way.  Heroes set an example for the rest of us to aspire to.  Heroes really influence us thanks to the great shadows they cast to look inward and find the very best in ourselves.

It's not so incidental to say, the woke hate heroes and want to dismantle and even destroy them at every damn chance!

If you're a normie reading this, those who call themselves actors and portray larger than life heroes are just as important to geeks.  Sure, their adventures are fictional with all kinds of special effects as window dressing.  Yeah, more often than not they had stunt doubles.  However, when an actor puts their all into pretending to be a larger than life hero, their audience and especially geeks will damn well believe a hero can fly...just look at the immortal example of the late Christopher Reeve, who was most famously known for his role as Clark Kent aka Superman.  Christopher didn't just touch lives, his influence reaches across generations to inspire in the most positive ways.  Chadwick Boseman was another who played his role as the Black Panther with so much gravitas, you set aside all of your suspension of disbelief and couldn't help but love him...even if the film bearing the hero's name can't exactly be called the best Marvel produced.  Before his untimely passing, Chadwick made just as strong an impression as Robert did playing Tony Stark or Chris playing Steve Rogers.

We lost two more actors just recently who gave us unforgettable performances as larger than life heroes, and I mentioned them both in my status update...but I couldn't just leave their respective losses as mere mention.  Kevin Conroy and Jason David Frank were the voice of the Dark Knight himself and Tommy, the Green Ranger who ascended to become the White Ranger, respectively.  They both played great, unforgettable heroes of the 1990's in Batman:  The Animated Series and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.  It's truly unfortunate to say that Jason wasn't the only actor connected to MMPR to be lost to us.  Over twenty years ago (damn!) Thuy Trang, who played Trini the Yellow Ranger, was lost in a fatal automobile accident.   Kevin passed away because of the same damn thing that took away my mom and dad, cancer.  Jason is no longer with us for what appear to be much more dubious reasons, at least according to what little we know so far, but his loss is just as tragic.

The same as when any great hero falls in the line of duty or much more hopefully for benign reasons like old age, those who portray heroes are just as important...and when we lose them, we truly do lose so much more.  It feels like the light of this world has grown a little dimmer with their absence.  And while the fortunate fact their performances will be with us forever to watch again and again and marvel at what heroes could be is a fact to always treasure, it will still never be enough consolation.

I have no idea what's waiting for us in the next world...no one has the slightest clue outside of what one's religion tells them is in store for us.  I want to hope and pray that there's a special place somewhere else on the other side for both heroes and those who played the role and made us believe.  A place where they wouldn't be judged, no matter how we lost them...and they'll rest in peace with the knowledge they need not fight the good fight anymore.

I want to believe there's a unique and special reward due to those who inspire all of us so greatly somewhere beyond this mortal coil.

Giving credit where it's due!
