Tao is a forest-covered world located in the Wild Space region which is also where the planet actually has a Dimensional Gate that leads into the Infinite Universe of the Netherworld.

For generations, Tao had enjoyed relative peace without any real outside interference from the Galactic Republic and remains so until the arrival of the Galactic Empire.

At the time of it's brief occupation, the world was already part of the Netherworld Empire yet the Imperials attempts to make an expanionist move into their ally's home universe by seizing control of the Dimensional Gate.

Clan Yasaburo, a clan whose ancestors had protect the world for generations due to being influenced by a Lost Jedi, refuses to allow the Empire to exploit their world in order to find the Gate and invade their patron's home, were caught in the middle of an internal strife.

The Heiress to the clan, Ocho, believes that the Empire can help bring evolution and prosperity to her world yet her father, Yasaburo, views the Empire as invaders and thus a rift broke the unity of the clan.

ISB Admiral Ryzer, commander of the operation, eagerly embrace Ocho into the Empire yet is frustrated by the continuing insurgency led by Yasaburo.

Before any further violence would occur, Ryzer was ordered to withdraw Imperial presence from the planet by Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, who had already been on the receiving end of personal complaints from Princess Euphemia li Britannia and the last thing the Galactic Empire needs is to antagonize their primary ally, secretly their overlords.

In Ryzer's place, the Netherworld sends a unit led by Prefect Masamura and the world's fate remains unclear due to the outbreak of the Galactic Civil War in 5 BBY on Lothal.
