Because... it is shiny on the shallow lagoon floor. Plus I was listening to a song called "Shine" by Slowdive on repeat while coloring it, so the word is stuck in my head. This is Orion again, the main character of my manga project. I'm thinking of finishing the lionfish girl next. So... yellow.Related content

When I saw the title, it reminded my of a song called "Shine", too. Only it was from the Newsboys, and most likely an entirely different genre than the music you were listening to.

I'm certain it was a very different genre, as Slowdive is a famous shoegazer band from the early 90's. Along with world music, shoegaze is easily my favorite musical genre.

As a general rule, I've been trying to avoid +fave-ing fish-boys and mermen, since it seems the people who +fave my mermen did so only because the only things they were +fave-ing at the time were mermen. But I really, really like how this looks. I especially like the fins.

Gotta love that yellow! His surroundings came out exceptionally well; it reminds me of the beach where I was on vacation at last week. There's a nearby sandy-bottomed bay that has a really shallow area where the water is crystal clear and is perfect for swimming. There's always lots of jellyfish, though.

Aww, I love his coloring. x3 Usually yellow is WAY too overpowering for me, but he really is balanced and shaded/highlighted well, so it comes out as a natural tone. ^__^ Yay yellow. <3
