Totally nailed it. Such piercing eyes. So much charisma in the face.
It was obvious that this guy can do badass since the aniversary special, but he's surprisingly capable of doing crazy dissonant weirdness as well.
I will obviously miss Matt forever, but the casting agency did their job.

I've been a fan of Peter Capaldi since the 1988 film The Lair Of The White Worm, which he starred alongside Hugh Grant and Amanda Donohoe and Catherine Oxenberg. Classic film.

Oh dearies. This reminded me of the "birth" of Metacrisis Doctor: "It's you!" - "Oh yes!" - "You're naked..." - "OH YES!" Or - no. If he forgot how to fly the TARDIS... it might be like in classical series (First and Second couldn't do it properly either...).

Completely resetting a Time Lord's regeneration cycle has never been done before. The Doctor may have forgotten a few other things as well besides how to fly the TARDIS, side effects ftw!

Well, the high council HAS been offering it as reward to the master, so it's not that new. Them timelord obviously want to get out of wherever they're stuck.
Probably just the typical temporary aftereffects coupled with being seriously out of practice after being stuck on that planet for god knows how long.
We don't have to go too crazy with the reset buttons.

Going by The End Of Time story, the Master went mad because of a botched resurrection by a human cult and not by the Time Lords. Had RTD not been stupid to have him shot and not regenerate in The Sound Of Drums, we could have seen John Simm play an interesting and perhaps devious and dark Master, but he ruined any chance of that. When the Master returns, I hope they have a Delgrado-esque actor in the role and story that is fitting.
Anyways, gonna be a joy to watch Capaldi from around September though

I'm hoping for a fatherly Doctor, like Jon Pertwee. Do we have to go with this whole 'DARK, BROOOOOODY, MY PEOPLE ARE LOOOOST BWAAAAAAAAA' crap? Its got old since Christopher Nolan and every movie that has tried to be serious since then.

He certainly looks like he could be a dark Doctor, looking forward to Series 8. Matt Smith's farewell was both beautiful and emotional, a perfect send off.
