I just feel fanfiction makes a good scapegoat.

No, he said he gave fifty to Hermonie and took fifty apiece from Ron and Harry. I figure the hourglasses give details or point breakdown of how many points, by who, and when to professors and not just a total.

Ah, fanfiction, the root of all evils. Don't get me wrong I read fanfiction all the time are there are those out there that are great pieces of fan work, but I get really concerned when you start getting fanfic writers that starts seeing their version as fact over the original creators. That's when the shit hits the fan and we run for out lives!
