How long did you train to make this?

alright well your only a year or so younger than me then. have you taken any formal art classes? maybe in jr. high or in this past year if it was your first year in high school? if not I would look into it. I have always enjoyed them if only just to learn a few simple tricks and see what sort of art is out there.
besides these basic art classes (most of which are mandatory classes you must pass to graduate and only 1 that I scheduled myself this past year) I have no training. I am self taught in nearly everything I know. this ranges from kendo to graphic design to traditional sketching and much further. this was the first sketch ive done in years and I only did it as a time filler. I was bored, dad wasnt home from work yet, I had the house to myself for another 4 hours. in roughly 3 I was done and before he came home I had gone over the outlines with sharpie and touched up my shading a bit.
nothing is impossible, and nearly everything can be self taught. if you have the chance to learn from somebody with experience then do it, if not this way is cheaper and usually more fun. though it can tend to be harder and filled with trial and error.

Well, here in Norway, art classes are not mandatory.
And to be honest, I really do not wanna sign up for one either (LAZY).
But that hollow-paper thingy, how long did you practice on that?

zero practice. just took my time as I went. the project itself was practice for shading techniques though.

But I can still draw as I do, but at the same time practice, right?

the way I look at it is that every new piece is practice in its own right with the skills you have. the progress as an artist you need to throw a new skill in there sometimes also. follow me?
