Maxiane was an old girl, 22, and she needed to be warmed up before competition more than the average horse. However, when warmed up with a rider on her, she became more stiff than ever. This became a problem at shows, as Hannah had to make sure ahead of time that there was a ring for Maxiane to be warmed up in.
Thank god there was one available here, as Hannah had forgotten to check beforehand. She lead Maxiane into the ring with her freshly-cleaned leather halter. Once in the center, she unbuckled the halter and let Maxiane free. Maxie calmly walked away to the wall. Once on the well-beaten track, she picked up the trot without a single cue from Hannah. After about five minutes of trotting, Hannah clicked once, sending Maxiane into a canter. Maxiane began to loosen up, her gaits becoming more fluid. "Diagonal!" Hannah shouted. Maxie looked to her left and changed directions across the diagonal. Hannah smiled, she couldn't believe how incredible this horse was. A few more laps of canter, and Hannah called to Maxiane, "Come,". Maxie slowed to a walk, and came to Hannah in the center of the arena. Hannah stroked her face and put her halter on. "You're ready girl,"
