Description A certain somebody asked if I had an eye tutorial up so uh... I made one. Please bear in mind that I use IbisPaint. This usually takes anywhere from 5 - 7 minutes to do.

Step 1: Sketch an eye. Doesn't have to be perfect.

     - I'm more than aware that you can't see the sclera in most cat eyes. This is more of a cartoonish style.

Step 2: Do the lineart (or not).

     - I make the pupil entirely black. It just makes sense. Don't worry. It'll look better later.

Step 3: Pick Your Base and Palette Colors.

     - I would recommend not using an overly saturated color for your base. I use two adjoining colors when picking my shades and highlights for the eye (red and yellow). DO NOT make the sclera pure white; make it a lighter version of your base color. There's a fine line between just right and way too much contrast.

Step 4: Add 'Em.

     - Keep the darker colors toward the outside of the iris and the brighter colors closer to the pupil. I draw them in a 'U' shape. Some artists chose to keep the area around the pupil dark so if that's you, go ahead.

Step 5: Multiply

     - I highly recommend using a desaturated color for multiplying. Then again, this depends on the color of the eye and the background (if there's one). On a separate multiply layer, set the opacity anywhere from 50% to like 75%. I used a darker version of my base eye color.

Step 6: Screen, Add, or Vivid Light

     - Time for highlights! Most art platforms have one of these settings. I honestly can't tell the difference between them so take this step with a grain of salt. Make a separate layer and use your lightest base color (yellow in my case) to do the highlight. I like to keep my highights near the bottom of the eye and slighty obscuring the pupil. Blur the top of the highlight for uh... aesthetic?

Step 7: Add Light Source & Finish

     - Take a lighter color and make a dash between the pupil and iris, right under where the multiply layer stops. Ever so slightly blur the dash at the bottom so it fades into the pupil and iris. Congratulations, that's it.
