It is casting light on both walls,, but the primary lighting is coming from the sun which is hitting the one wall and since the sun is much brighter than the orb it washes out some of the light it casts..

It is a 3d model made by a guy named Poisen, he makes some fantastic tribal and celtic-like 3d models..
here is the link to his stuff at content paradise, but I think he sells at renderosity too..
