Coral Reefs are vibrant and thriving ecosystems. For many Merfolk cultures, Reefs were considered sacred in ancient times as they provided resources like food, shelter and building materials while also being lauded for their beauty. Indeed, if a reef were to start dying, some tribes would pray to their Gods to preserve them, for if the Reef died, then they surely would die with it.
