***Spoilers for the MLP episode "The Times They Are a Changeling" below***

Aaahhhh that episode was soooooooo cute!! I knew changelings could be good I was waiting until it aired to finish and upload this. Sorry it's so sloppy, I couldn't wait This is kinda my idea about how Chrysalis and Luna first met (changed a little bit to match that episode):

After the Crystal Empire welcomes Thorax, Twilight (or maybe Starlight) writes a letter to Princess Celestia about it, who is ecstatic! I like the idea that Celestia wants to make friends with all the villians So she goes to visit, and loves Thorax! While talking to him, she notices he has a lot of the same self esteem problems that Luna had before she became Nightmare Moon, and she decides that Luna is perfect for the job of reforming Chrysalis (just like how she knew Fluttershy was perfect for reforming Discord). So she tells Luna to be on the lookout for changelings while patrolling at night, and to make sure to make them feel loved.

Meanwhile Chrysalis is kinda scared and frustrated that one of her changelings has been converted to good. It's important to note here that I headcanon that, while the changelings each have individual personalities, they also have some qualities of a "hive mind"; as in they can transmit (not very specific) information and feelings through telepathy to all other changelings, including Chrysalis. Chrysalis knows what happened, and Thorax is considered a traitor and exiled. She wants to take revenge on the ponies, but they haven't really recovered after their defeat at Cadence's wedding; not to mention that love is even more scarce than before. But something starts happening. She receives information that some of her changelings are managing to get food, always at night, and around the same place. She would normally receive a report from them, and have more information, but every time this happens, the changeling it happens to becomes a traitor, just like Thorax.

She forbids her subjects from going there, and is too afraid of being captured to go herself. But the love is just too strong, and after a few weeks of continuously losing subjects, she has no choice but to find out what's going on. Thus the scene above! Luna doesn't let Chrysalis know she is aware of her presence, and leaves once the changeling is full. Luna and Chrysalis both come back to the same spot at the same time for the next few nights, Chrysalis feeling comfortable enough to get closer and closer every night. One night, Luna acknowledges Chrysalis's presence, and feeds her love. While Chrysalis is pretty sure it's a trap, she's just so hungry ... she can't resist. She ends up in Luna's lap. When it comes time for Luna to leave, Chrysalis manages to ask why she did it. And Luna explains that she understands what it's like to feel forced into the role of a villain, but that you don't have to be, if you don't want to, before flying off into the night. This becomes the routine for the next few weeks. They talk about their lives and experiences. Luna helps Chrysalis realize that she has a choice. They get closer and closer, until oops, they're in love, when did that happen? At which point Luna convinces Chrysalis to come live with her in the castle, and the changelings are welcome to move in anywhere in Equestria.
