Description "Cursed Wolf" was featured in AdBuster Magazine's March-April 2014 issue, "Blueprint for a New World, Part 1: Psycho".

A quick vent-painting done last night in response to quite a few stressful situations I've encountered since moving on to art school (inability to find work, difficulties making ends meet, etc).

These cursed wolf portraits have been popping up often as of late. I have a few other sketches I've uploaded on my tumblr: caroro93morgan.tumblr.com/imag… caroro93morgan.tumblr.com/imag… but more of these portraits remain in my sketchbooks.

Here lately in 20th century Modern Art History class we've recently been focusing alot on cubism and futurism. I believe the high-cubist work of Braque and Picasso is what inspired the choice of colors and method of repetition in this particular representation of my cursed wolf. I was also influenced by Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son" which disturbed me when I saw it in person for the first time this past summer in Madrid.

There is a very likely possibility that this concept will be revisited in the near future and treated as a series.

I love this! It is absolutely amazing.
I was wondering if I could by chance have your permission to use your art as a banner onΒ animal-jam-clans-1.wikia.com? It's a website for a roleplaying community on Animal Jam, a National Geographic game. It would not be altered in any way, and there would be a section on the pack's page for the Credit, including a link back to this original piece and back to your Deviantart.

Please let me know! I love this art and i'd like to use it as a banner. Thank you!

It's not a problem with me! My only stipulations are, that the edited banner has my name/signature in it, and/or I can approve it before you use it.
Thanks for asking first!

Awesome, and I saw the inspiration of Goya when you mentioned it. I bet some more drool would definitely make a bigger connection

Are you talking about Goya, or his painting "Saturn Devouring His Son"?

Saturn Devouring His Son, brain fart haha. Art History felt so long ago.

I saw this on Tumblr first and immediately loved it; imagine my surprise when I noticed I was watching you on here!
Glad I could read about what fueled this piece, Tumblr tends to take that away. I love the colors, and the strange, random way you merged the features of the wolves' faces is really unlike any other demon portrait I've seen, and I think that's what adds to the dark effect as well. I love it it, and if it becomes a series, I'd be ecstatic!

Great work, and quite disturbing. I like your representation, how the heads merge into one another. The colour palette is great, too - it adds alot to the mood of the painting. My immediate association when I first saw it was Hellsing anime... although I admit that your painting is something I can stare at for quite a long time *_*

never heard of the Hellsing anime. I never have time for this sort of thing! I'm always so absorbed into my studies, that's usually what heavily influences my work these days. Thanks for your feedback!

I'm not a fan of anime, but I found Hellsing beautiful... in some macabre ways
