Description you say that
my life
is exhausting you,
yet, you'd think that,
after "everyting i've put you through",
that this could be your best escape-
your most magical moment.
still you linger-
torn and tossed in torment of
the things i've said.
glossy eyed and glorified in your
declarations of love,
stumbling and fumbling,
all the wrong words
flop into my lap-
heavy and sticky,
like an insect,
trapped in your web-
spin around and around,
wrap me in the
illusion of your sobriety.
twisting and falling betrayl
belittles your gentle soul.
feathers fall silently at my feet
as your wax wings melt,
and the image of michael,
the guardian angel of all angels,
diminishes, and allows the
skeleton of your true identity
to darken my doorway, and
before me you stand over
and over again, a
demon in diamonds.
fiend of fire,
i will not
outstretch my hand again
in fear of being burned.
No, the scars emulate
my destiny with you-
they are thick and tight and
unyeilding to guard my heart
before it becomes
burdened by the blaze.
I am not a moth,
dazzled by the brillance
of your beauty.

Your use imagery is highly strategic, and assures the poem's success. I wish I had been as talented as you are when I was your age (but I was your age back in the days of the dinosaurs).

Wow Carly!

Wonderful! Powerful image. I get the feeling we touched on this for a nanosecond the other day.

The hurt never goes away, but it does make us grow in wisdom.

I like this very much!
