Steven Universe ended and honestly I have so many feelings about it. I'm incredibly satisfied with the way it ended but definitely sad that the journey is over. I've been watching the show since around the third episode at the end of 2013 after randomly finding some fanart of the gems here on DeviantArt and thinking "this seems interesting."

Now for some sappy ranting... feel free to skip this.

First I want to say that this show was very special to me and captured my interest partially because the setting of Beach City, Delmarva is literally based on the Delaware beaches. As a native Delawarean, seeing my little state get attention was incredible. Seeing places and things that I knew and had visited countless times in my life in this amazing cartoon filled me with so much joy. Funland of course is the most obvious, but even certain signs and designs in the show referenced Rehoboth Beach, which was just so cool to me. They even referenced my favorite convenience store/gas station/coffee shop in SU Future, Wawa, though in the show it was "Uaua." It was little details like this that others who weren't familiar with the area wouldn't think much of, but filled me with so much joy. Thanks Rebecca and the Crewniverse for putting a little spotlight onto my state.

There's been so many changes in my life since 2013 and this show has always been in the background through all of it. In 2013 I was in my last year of high school, still living at my parents house. Steven Universe was with me when I met my boyfriend who would later become my fiancé and it became a mutual love in our relationship. It was with me through all four years of college when I lived with my grandparents. Now I've gotten engaged, graduated college, found a job in my field that I love, and bought my own place, all while eagerly anticipating the next chapter of Steven Universe. Of course things have to end, but it's strange that it won't be this one consistent thread in my life anymore throughout all the changes. I've loved this show so much and it's very bittersweet to tell it goodbye. So goodbye SU, and thank you for everything.
