SUPER ROLEPLAY WRITING TIME GO!!!

It was a bleak morning. The normally cheery blue sky was
clouded by a thick layer of off white murk, making the early daylight hours
seem late in the day. The windows were open, creating a slight chill in my
house. Still in my pajamas, I sat on the floor, cloaked in a thick blanked, my latest
biology textbook in hand. Thor, the newest addition to my family, lay snugly at
my side. As I read up on the symptoms of various diseases and viruses, Thor’s
paws twitched. I snickered. It had been a while since I had a Pokémon companion
in my life.

Eventually, Thor stirred, and then stretched out her body,
sending small electric sparks down her body as she awakened. I scratched the
spot between her shoulders where the peculiar mark of the Norse god Odin was displayed.
It was said to have ended up there as the result of being descended from
ancient Asgardian manectric. Suddenly Thor turned, her blue eyes wandering over
my face.

She barked at me and ran from the cozy office space into my
bedroom. Scoffing and muttering some incoherent mid-morning curses under my
breath, I dropped the large book and shuffled after her.

On the top of my bed, nestled in several layers of blankets
and lying on top of a salvaged heating pad, lay a small, pale egg. Thor had her
front paws on the edge of the mattress and was silently investigating the
unborn Pokémon. I walked over to the bed and sat on the edge as well after
turning the egg to a different side and checking that the temperature was fit.

“The professor said that the two eggs would hatch soon. You hatched Thor. But that was a couple months
ago. At the very least. I wonder if this one-“I cut myself off. I couldn’t bear
to think about losing a baby Pokémon. Not yet.

As I worried and fretted, Thor began nipping at my toes.
Just as I was about to chastise her, I saw that the minute egg was moving
slightly. I sat up from my slouch.

The excitement of Thor hatching was pretty small, just
consisting of me leaning eagerly over the green egg as it jiggled and cracked
until the small and rather confused electrike popped out. Now, though, as this
new egg shook and squeaked, I could share the anticipation with Thor.

Soft squeaks reverberated through my room. The noises
continued for a while, and Thor eventually lost interest and began to chew at
her paws. Rather annoyed due to my caffeine-deprived state, I lost the initial
interest in the egg and started to fiddle with my bra strap. Unexpectedly, chipping
and cracking noises came from my bed. The two of us jolted to alertness and
leaned over the warm egg.

With a large crack, a tiny clawed paw burst through the wall
of shell. Thor’s head tilted to one side and she leaned in closer to sniff the
flexing foot. Now flakes of the shell were breaking off, revealing a pale brown
Pokémon. I gasped. It was the most fracking adorable thing I had ever seen. Reaching
out to pick it up, I noticed the tiny body was shaking because of the cold.

Carefully scooping up the shivering baby in my blanket, I
could continue to check it out. Its ears were abnormally large; yet oddly
adorable. There were four of the sharply clawed feet attached to the body. All of
the feet were rather large for the creature, again demonstrating the
disproportioned world of baby animals. The paintbrush-like tail twitched
irritably as I tried to dry it off, and the body of the animal was so skinny I could
feel the contours of the shoulder blades. His tiny body was covered in a layer
of silky dove grey fur.

I turned to Thor, who sat looking up at me from my feet.

“Be careful now, hun. So no ‘love shocking’, he’s just a
baby,” I whispered as I held the bundle down to her level. The brown furball
chirped at Thor and she whuffled back at it. “Well, what do you think, Thor?” I
questioned the green Pokémon. She glanced up at me and then returned to the
newly hatched eevee who was now batting at her muzzle with his big soft paws. “He
still needs a name.”

I looked outside again, and the day hadn’t gotten much
brighter. It remained dismal and dark outside, reminiscent of scenes in ‘The
Crucible’. Then it came to me. Thor backed up as I reached for the squirming
and squeaky eevee. His nose wrinkled and twitched as I lifted him, taking in
the smells of my room. I looked down on his furry body and I smiled.

“Hey Salem. Welcome to the family.”
