Thanks so much ^^ I was absolutely terrified to make the hat/really unsure, but once I thought of a way that didn't involve sewing it all came together a lot simpler XD Only took me a couple days (mostly drying time)

I had a long time pondering over this hat too. I originally was thinking of sewing it with foam underneath and stretch fabric but Im not as confident sewing as I am to prop work so I decided to use other materials. I ended up forming the base shape out of chicken wire (molding it to fit my head) and then paper maché. I did a layer of mod podge over the paper maché and then spray painted. Hope that helps.

Thank you! It definitely does help! I was thinking of doing paper mache, but thought that it would be too heavy. How did it actually feel wearing it?
I heard from a friend that some people apparently use beach balls underneath the fabric, though that seems kind of strange/large

No actually the paper maché is SUPER light 8D Its great! Its totally fine to wear other than I can barely hear anything XD lol! Oh I forgot to mention that I first did a layer of cheese cloth before the paper, otherwise the paper had nothing to really stick to.
Ya, I actually would have loved to use a beach ball or large balloon base. The wire worked well, but I think its too bumpy, I would have liked it to be a lot smoother/rounder looking, but I made it literally days before con with a lot else left to finish at the same time XD; so beggers cant be choosers haha!

Oh! Then that changes everything! And that's fine; my friends are used to my poor hearing. I spaced out for a while just thinking about the hat being made of cheese until you said cloth. Not as great But yea, I was wondering if you just threw it all on the wire.
Yea, with paper mache I was thinking of maybe using that pinata making technique with paper mache. I'm not sure if I'd do wiring because of reasons like you said, but yours looks fine for something so rushed!
