This is the conclusion of the Terra 3k series, set in the year 3,000 C.E.
The last known log entry of The Phoenix Project:

T3k: EoF: Pandora’s Box (Excerpt):
“This is the final log entry for The Phoenix Project, Pandora recording,” she said into the micro-recorder. The small, finger-sized, quartz just needed a touch to activate.
….
She could smell the rust and brine, coming off the bay; with the soft lapping of slow tide, running through the rusting geodesic domes, crumbling concrete pylons; and, old, weary turbines.
….
With pollenating their own plants, and harvesting some power into Leyden Jars, from the old photovoltaic panels, micro hydro impeller, and a few VAWT wind turbines, that were still turning, they could hold on for a little while longer.
….
The Phoenix Project had been built on the bones of a decommissioned NATO Base and salvaged pieces from an old DEW Line Quonset hut.
It had been a feeble and frantic attempt to preserve something through a impending Nuclear Winter.
It had never had never been intended to contend with Climate Change and Global Warming, with melting permafrost and polar ice caps.
They couldn’t overcome the pollution, rising tides and temperatures, or Y-Chromosome fatigue, not in time.
“But, what will happen now?” Eco, her daughter asked.
She hugged her to herself, looking around at the few plants, scrabbling to survive on the rocks and rusted frameworks; along with the few birds, and bugs, and butterflies;
And, she sighed, “Nature will do what She always does: She’ll try something new,” she told her, rubbing her daughter’s head through her hair, knowing she was something new; at least, for humans, being born via Parthenogenesis.

Nature keeps trying; Life keeps struggling, even in the most extreme environments to try and survive; and, find a way to live.
I guess we should do the same.
But, really it’s too late now. If we wanted to avoid ecological and economic disaster, we could have done something decades ago; but, we didn’t.
Still, we anything we can do to help would help mitigate things; and, who knows, that might buy enough time to circumvent complete collapse.

In my family, as the doctors said, we all thrived in a specially built house, built to accommodate my disabilities; but, instead of building on that, it was sold, when my Dad was in a pique.
And, we spend everything we’d saved and scrounged for on lawyers, cults, and nonsense; and, now the time and resources are gone;
And, the only thing left is to compose the dirge.
