Racing Rumour Through Jötunheimr [Land of the Frost Giants]

Across the worlds they fly, running their race, every day, from before rosy-fingered Dawn rises, past Eventide;

And, every day, Rumour outpaces Fame, Thought, and Memory;

Until, Ragnarök , when the story starts anew.

Whatever the weather, braving blustering winds, snow, and raging Frost Giants , through Jötunheimr ;

Every day, Gná and Hófvarpnir , fly across the worlds, learning everything that’s going on to tell Frigg , when they return to Asgard .

Every day, they race Odin ’s Ravens, Huginn and Muninn , who tell him everything happening in Midgard and the Other Worlds .

And, every day, no matter how fast they fly, they are always outpaced by Lopt the Magpie , who brings every rumour gleaned from the worlds to whisper in Odin and Frigg ’s ears;

Rumour flies so fast that Lopt the Magpie can circle the World Tree twice, before Gná, Hófvarpnir, Huginn and Muninn can even cross the Bifrost Bridge , on their daily race.

This was made for the LET IT SNOW ! * WINTER CONTEST* , hosted by the World-of-Art-Kingdom , using new stock and backgrounds.

The scene of Gná , Hófvarpnir , Huginn and Muninn , and Lopt the Magpie , flying through Jötunheimr , on their daily race, was inspired by the recent frigid temperatures [-36*C Wind Chill last week, and -46*C this week];

And, the ice in the windows; as well as Gna and Hofvarpnir , made for the Last Challenge of 2017 , hosted by ManipulateThis ;

The idea of Lopt the Magpie [Rumour] beating Gná [Fame], Huginn and Muninn [Thought and Memory] in their race around the world is original, based on folklore.

Gná is a goddess , in Norse mythology , runs errands throughout Midgard and the Other Worlds , riding the flying horse Hófvarpnir, telling the goddess Frigg , everything that’s happening.

Gná has been equated with Pheme [Fame], in Greek mythology , who repeats everything she learns, similar to Fama [Rumour], in Roman mythology .

The Ravens Huginn and Muninn , bring Odin information from Midgard and the Other Worlds .

Lopt the Magpie , from the Old Norse for “Air”, who informs Odin and Frigg all the Rumours , Fake News and lies being told in Midgard and the Other Worlds is my own Original Character.

A single Magpie is often considered an ill-omen.

Magpie s are also associated with witchcraft, and predictions of the future.

Environment Canada has issued more warnings for temperatures around -40*C, which is the same in Fahrenheit. I know, because a friend helped write a program in computer class to prove it.

Hopefully, everyone can find a place to stay warm.

Yggdrasil the World Tree reminded me of The Fountain - Trailer.

It’s an interesting film, with Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman , replacing Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt [When he pulled out seven weeks before shooting, over script conflicts.], with half the budget [¼ of which was already spent in preproduction].

Holy Cats! -46*C Wind Chill!

Freyja 's Fólkvangr sounds like a nice place to visit. Usually, winter is nice; but, being stuck in Niflheim with the Frost giants (hrímþursar) is getting a bit tedious.

Presumably, Yggdrasil isn’t the only tree in Fólkvangr , or Annwn /; but, I can’t find an Other World specifically set in a forest, which seems strange.
