Description I wasn't sure what category to put this picture in. Paper piecing is an old hobby of mine, and I decided to put my paper hoard to good use (it sounds like I hoard a lot of things, doesn't it?). The card is 4.25"W and 5.5" tall. It took a lot of planning to make this picture and coordinate the colours. Originally I was going to use green in it, but decided not to. I made stencils for everything, and I tell ya, it was a pain to cut the tree twice! I'll probably have more of these to show off soon, as I plan to make a bunch for Christmas craft sales. Also, my scanner is working It turned out that the USB cable also blew the power adapter, so I need to get a new one of those too.

* In the original description, I omitted the source of the unicorn (too excited about my scanner working, I guess :-D). I used a photo of Sarah Rose's "Nevada" model as a guide. I didn't intend to mislead anyone. I plan on collecting cards from my co-workers to recycle into something else as well, especially old Christmas ones. I found a trove of horse photos from my model horse days, and am planning to do something with those as well. It seems to me that too much gets tossed, and I hope people would be more likely to hang onto something handmade.

Papercutting is a wonderful, ancient but very underappreciated art...I do a lot of it myself and moderate a forum for it as well: [link] I really love this card!

Thank you I like your icon btw, I love birds too. There's lots of pigeons near my workplace. I love watching them.

very welcome and thank you! pigeons are very entertaining, it's annoying how everyone makes them out to be nasty, i find them pretty

Indeed! There are some nice brown and white ones near where I work, instead of just plain old grey. They really do get an unfair rap, they're only doing what birds do best - eating and pooping

Wow. You did that with PAPER?! O.O That's talent! I really like it, it seems, peaceful, and I don't know how to explain it but it looks snazzy! Good job with the paper! (Gotta love the purple with the white).

Really oustanding design! I love the color scheme, and how it all fits together. I can't help but notice though that the Horse looks like one of Sarah Roses' resins. The Morgan with a Mephisto head perhaps? ;That's what it most reminds me of anyway.

I'm glad you mentioned that, I will have to amend the original description. The one I used as a guide was a photo of Nevada. I kept thinking it looked familiar but couldn't place it. I shouldn't be so careless when appropriating things.

I found a trove of model horse photos that I have taken over the years, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. I don't photo show anymore, so it's silly to keep hundreds of photos around. I guess I could cut them up for a photo mosiac or something. A few I can recycle into cards for show prizes, but some of them are just too worn and what not.

This is simply gorgeous! I love the originality that went into this, this is a media that I never would have thought to try! You did an excellent job with this. The colors are calming, and remind me of the twilit hour after the sun has slipped below the mountian ridge but before true dark. Ah! It makes me wish the avalanche danger wasn't so high at this time of year so that I could venture up into the mountains above my own home and experience such peace! I also love the way this is composed, so balanced, and that balance also enhances the sense of quiet. Great angle on the unicorn, too. I like how you have truly made every piece a part of the greater composition, unlike in so many other pics where a person attempts to add a background after they have already drawn the subject and everything besides the subject feels like a mere after thought.

I would purchase a card like this!

That's awesome! When I first looked at it, I thought of art-deco style vector art, but when I read that it was paper, I was even more blown away by your excellent craftsmanship. I would definitely buy one of these if I ever stumbled upon it at a craft show!

Awesome, and thanks for the fave I hope people will buy them too. The great thing about making the cards is that if they don't sell, I have something personal to send to my friends. Vector art would be a great way of making templates for it, now that you mention it!
