But like, seriously tho you guys. Sometimes coming up with a million and one titles for our pictures its kinda irritating. Probably because most of my drawings don't really have a title. I just draw things and...Yes. And I find just having a characters name as the title slightly boring so....

Well I just end up coming up with stupid titles for my pictures that you all have to suffer through.

Anyhoo. So I've been having some fun trying my hand at some fanart. It just gives me something else to draw and makes my gallery...less boring? More varied? I dunno. Let it be known that I'll always be a OC artist (or whatever people want to call us people who have headfriends XD) but it's always pretty fun to draw characters that you love

As you all know by now, I'm a Monster High fan; it's nice knowing that theres quite a lot of adult Monster High fans hanging around as well too. I'm almost 30 (OH GAWD FOR REALS AM I THAT OLDDDDD???) and I just adore it! I actually have Ghouls Rule and I love the webisodes, but most definately, I love, love, LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE the dolls! As you may know already, I'm a huge doll collector (it's a bit of an obsession, really.) so the first time I saw MH dolls I just thought they were the bees knees! I just love how creative they are! I've resorted to collecting Monster High dolls around town because it's pretty impossible to find collector Barbies around my neck of the woods, and MH doll collecting is a pretty good investment as well. I just wish they weren't so expensive UGH. Anyway.

So I got relatively bored one day, or I couldn't draw anything, or something like that, so I thought I'd draw Twyla, who you probably remember from the 13 Wishes movie, which she was introduced as Howleen Wolf's best friend. She's the daughter of the Boogie Man! I really like her design and I think she's really pretty and I love her colour scheme. Monster High characters have the best colour scheme. Seriously, the people who create the characters, and character designs and all that are mother flucking brilliant! Anyway. I guess Twyla doesn't have a last name.. She's just...Twyla. I thought she'd be pretty fun to draw, I really like her personality. She's a bit like me in a way. Quiet and just kinda....observes people in the shadows....(Okay, I just made myself sound creepy, right? I swear I don't just stare at people and watch them creepily from behind walls and things. I SWEAR.) She's very cute. So I thought I'd try my hand at her.

Let it be known right now that this is by far NOT what I had wanted my first Twyla drawing to look like. At all. I'm pretty sure I was having an "off" day when I did this one... I was looking at some picture of a girl standing with a slightly different arm position... For some reason, I said to myself, THIS WOULD BE A GOOD POSE FOR TWYLA. Even tho it really doesn't make sense. But I guess it's just a pose, so she could really be doing anything, right? I really don't know what she's doing. I think a lot of it was just me not knowing where to put her hands, but also me wanting to draw her hands because I like how the grey part of her hands fades into her normal colour, and I thought I'd have fun colouring that.... So here she is! First off, this is not the best rendition of her. At all. I didn't think it was terrible to the point where I didn't want to finish it, so I just went ahead and finished it. So here is the final result. Again, we have some issues with her head being...too small... I dunno if it's just the way I drew her shirt (I intended her shirt to have puffy sleeves) or what. But her head looks too small. ME AGAIN WITH TOO SMALL HEADS. :iconrlynotimpressedplz: WHY MUST I DO THIS TO CHARACTERS? First mine, now I'm torturing Monster High characters too!

I swear she's not supposed to be saluting. I just drew her hand like that. And now it looks like she's saluting. DERP.

Her hair was a bit of a challenge, really. Not necessarily to DRAW, I had fun drawing her hair (Word to her Zooey Deshanel bangs!), it's really just trying to get the colours right. Her hair is a pretty aqua blueish colour with purple highlights (or...lowlights? I dunno.) and it was a little challenging to make sure the two colours blended well together. I have this thing where I always have to blend my colours XD I don't know why, I just have to. I sorta wanted her purple stripes to come out a little darker, and also have a little more of them... But when I was looking at her picture on her profile page on the website for reference she really didn't have too many purple highlights in her hair so I didn't want to go overboard. So I just left it as such I think it came out fine. On the original drawing, her hair wasn't so poofy. When I was inking the picture, I actually poofed it out - not because I wasn't happy with her current poofy hair state, but because I was secretly hoping it would make her head look bigger. COOL STORY BRO. I dunno if I accomplished that or not. But anyway. She looks okay I guess.

I was actually going to do something a bit different with her shirt, I was going to add stripes to it. But for some reason when I looked at it after I coloured the picture I just didn't think the stripes would work for some reason. That and I originally wanted them to be black, but I just didn't think the black stripes would show. I was thinking of doing white stripes instead... But the only thing I have to make white stripes is a crappy gel pen which likes to die randomly. So I just left it as a purple shirt. I made Twylas shirt purple because I just assume that she wears purple or purple tones all the time... So yes. That's why her shirt is purple. So yet another monotoned colour shirt for you.

Again, she's a Monster High character I kinda had to fiddle around with to figure out what colour I should colour her. So I used the same colour that I used on Ghoulia, kinda an off grey-blue colour that I like. I think it looks fine, altho I think I wanted to make her look SLIGHTLY more blue here. Because I think her doll looks more blue. I think. I'm looking at her (with my completely BLIND eyes............ ) right now and she looks blue from here. Well more blue. Anyway.

I did the background with watercolours as you probably can tell. I normally don't use colours that you see on the character for the background for fear of my characters fading away into the background.... But for this one I just didn't think it would look...RIGHT... for Twyla to have a background that was every colour imaginable. So I kept the palette relatively simple, and tried to match it with her, so I took my Crayola watercolour palette and used blue and black and just kinda went with it. For some reason, I thought I would add little stars with my white gel pen (that pen I complained a while back XD)... Okay, so the stars look really corny, and probably really stupid, but I think it added...something...to the background.

I actually like how the background came out. Usually the black watercolour from the palette doesn't come out dark enough or black enough but here it came out just dark enough how I wanted it.

Which leads me to my next point. THE SCAN. Honestly, we don't have to go over this every time I post something, and I realize this, but...I NEED TO BITCH. I don't know what's wrong with my scanner, and why it just can't COMPREHEND certain colours. Seriously. Her shirt... HER SHIRRRRTTT!!!! Her shirt does NOT look like that on the original. GAHHH!! Purple is one of those colours that my scanner just doesn't know how to scan. Seriously. This is terrible. JUST TERRIBLE. I tried to fiddle around with my scanners settings to try and fix it and this was the best I could come up with.

Yes, friends, this is the BEST my scanner can do.

So once again, we have a terrible scan. So please, just kindly ignore the shit out of the scan. It's pretty horrid. Her hair also scanned in really bad as well. Actually, looking at it now, nothing really scanned well in this picture, to be honest. I realize it could be worse, but...Ew. Ew, my scans.

I also messed up inking her nose as well. I curved the line there near her eye too much when I inked it and it really annoys me.

So yeah, I'm just really on the fence about this picture, really. I like it, but I kinda don't like it. I'm just really confused. SO. VERY. CONFUSED.

So yes, just some more random fanart, this time of Twyla from Monster High! Not the greatest. Not the worst either, but not the greatest.

Well it could be the worst, I'll just pretend that it's not.
