alright people, this is my entry for the gunsmiths-united video game gun contest.
HOWEVER, you will notice something: there are lots of guns, and you can only submit one per category! there are much more guns than one can submit to the contest.
well, i kinda got too excited with an idea i had, so i made extra guns. the "real" ones (the ones going to the contest) are:
- Sidearms: PSA-300 Tatu
- Automatic Weapons: FA-350 Cobra
- Shotguns: EAB-405 Jiboia
- Sniper Rifles: FP-290 Jacaré
- Best in show: LMAA-495 Estilingue
the game they were based on is Battlefield 2142.
..............................................................
well people, it has been some time since i posted something, as you may have noticed. why? well, a few reasons:
- exams. lots of exams and texts.
- i was working on this.
- i was working on another few projects at the same time.
- i was thinking about what to do for christmas. i came to a conclusion, but won't tell anybody; it's a surprise!
anyways, i hope you enjoy these weapons i made here. i spent a good amount of time working on them, and i'll tell ya, it was fun. it's good to break from the same style sometimes.
let's go to a proper description, shall we?
.....................................................................
in 2142, as the whole world was being frozen by a new ice age, PAC attacked the EU in hopes of getting resources. however, this was not the only front of the war.
in south america, only two nations had significantly large agricultural areas: Chile had the former atacama desert and Brazil, the former semi-arid northeastern region. these areas were the only significant ones not covered with snow, and proper for agriculture. meanwhile, the rest of south america was starving.
the other south american nations then formed the ULA (Unión Latino-Americana, or latin-american union) and planned on how to attack Chile and Brazil.
attacking Chile was almost impossible; thanks to the Andes, they had great terrain advantage. as such, they attacked the only option they had left: Brazil.
while the ULA used weaponry bought from the PAC, Brazil used national weaponry. these were fundamental to the Brazilian war effort, and, ultimately, victory.
the main difference was: while the EU, PAC and ULA used mostly caseless weaponry, Brazil used CTA (Cased Telescoping Ammuniton) weaponry. unlike conventional CTA designs, brazilian CTAs were rimmed with a rebated rim in order to allow use with traditional bolt mechanisms. CTA ammunition is polymer-cased, thus lighter, and more compact. this allows a much higher power CTA round to have the same size of a traditional or caseless round. as such, most brazilian weapons were notably more powerful. furthermore, caseless ammunition tends to become brittle in very cold temperatures; though this problem was partially solved with 22nd century materials, CTA rounds were still much more reliable- and cheaper.
the fact brazilian weaponry used polygonal rifling also contributes to the increased power and accuracy.
note that CTA rounds are ticker than the projectile in order to accomodate more propellant.
almost all brazilian weaponry share similar grip, trigger and fire selector designs, to facilitate cross-training.
the EB (Exército Brasileiro, or Brazilian Army) mainly used the following weaponry:
ASSAULT RIFLES:
- FA-350 "Cobra": the FA-350 (Fuzil de Assalto, or Assault Rifle) EB's main assault rifle. fires a 6.5mm CTA cartridge from a 30-round magazine. has a rate of fire of 900 rounds per minute.
it is a reliable and very accurate weapon. the standard rifle for EB forces, it is fairly compact and has relatively low recoil and is very controllable, thanks to its muzzle device.
the weapon is more accurate and slightly more powerful than its EU and PAC counterparts, the SCAR-11 and the FA-37. it has the same rate of fire of the FA-37. it is, overall, an excellent weapon, suited for all situations.
it comes with an integrated adjustable zoom scope. the zoom varies between 1 and 4x. this adjustable magnification capability makes it deadly at long ranges, without losing its close-quarters capabilities.
it also features flip-up backup iron sights, blended in with the carry handle when folded down.
it boasts 3-round bursst capabilities in addition to semi and full-auto modes. this comes in handy at medium ranges.
ammo: 6.5mm CTA
capacity: 30 rounds
RoF: 900 RPM
modes: semi-auto, 3-rnd burst, full auto
- FAL-345 "Raposa" (Fox): the FAL-345 (Fuzil de Assalto leve, or Light Assault Rifle) was designed to be a "smart", light assault rifle. it is only slightly shorter than the FA-350, and is less powerful. however, what it lacks in power and accuracy it makes up for in the form of fire rate and magazine capacity. firing 5.5mm CTA rounds, it boasts an amazing rate of fire of 1000 rounds per minute and has a 65-round magazine capacity. thanks to the akward position of the magazine, it takes a little more time than usual to reload.
this rifle has very little recoil, thanks to the small rounds, making it easily controllable even with its astonishing RoF. it also features a smart red dot sight, that detects and outlines enemies in red. though this is not much of an improvement durind close-quarter battles, it can come in handy at medium-range battles, and in finding camouflaged enemy soldiers.
it is EB's counterpart of the voss L-AR.
it also features a 5-round burst, which is useful for medium range engagements.
ammo: 5.5mm CTA
capacity: 65 rounds
RoF: 1000 RPM
modes: semi-auto, 5-round burst, full auto
- FAP-335 "Lobo-Guará" (Maned Wolf): the FAP-335 (Fuzil Automático Pesado, or Heavy Automatic Rifle) is a powerful battle rifle chambered for a 8mm CTA cartridge. slightly less accurate than its counterpart, the Baur H-AR, it is more powerful and has more controllable recoil thanks to its muzzle device. it borrows the socpe and BUIS from the FA-350. it has a similar rate of fire to its counterpart.
ammo: 8mm CTA
capacity: 20 rounds
RoF: 600 RPM
modes: semi-auto, 2-round burst, full auto
LIGHT MACHINE GUNS:
MTL-360 "suçuarana" (Puma): the MTL-360 (MeTralhadora Leve, or Light MachineGun) is a belt-fed LMG that shares its ammo with the FA-350. as such, it is much more poweful than its counterparts, and has an increased rate of fire; however, it is also less accurate and has more recoil thanks to its smaller, shorter design.
a bullpup design ensures acceptable accuracy. this weapon has an interesting feature: when the barrel is very hot, it opens its ventilation ports, and the ventilation system starts to function, sucking the extremely cold, freezing air of the exterior to the area around the barrel. this doesn't stop the gun from overheating, but delays it a lot. this, combined with its higher power and rate of fire, makes it a much more effective supressive and close quarters weapon.
the weapon features an integrated bipod for use when crouched. it makes the gun much more stable and accurate. the sights consist of a flip-up red dot sight.
the weapon also boasts a 5-round burst capability for long-range supression. also, contrary to most other LMGs, it features a semi-automatic setting.
ammo: 6.5mm CTA
capacity: 200 rounds
RoF: 950 RPM
modes: semi, 5-rnd burst, full auto
SUB MACHINE GUNS:
- SMT-310 "Piranha": the SMT-310 (SubMeTralhadora, or SubMachineGun) is a compact submachinegun issued to EB engineers. it has a ROF equal to its counterparts, and is slightly more powerful, trading that for a bit more recoil. its bullpup design allows it to be slightly more accurate, and its holographic sight is great for close quarters. the weapon features an adjustable collapsing stock for increased compactness, and un underbarrel flashlight.
ammo: 7mm CTA
capacity: 30 rounds
RoF: 900 RPM
modes: semi, 3-round burst and full auto
CARBINES:
CC-340 "Lobo" (Wolf): the CC-340 (Carabina Compacta, or Compact Carbine) is a small carbine intended for use by snipers in urban environments, where they would use this weapon instead of a sniper rifle. it fires a 7mm PLUS CTA cartridge (not to be confused with the 7mm round used by the SMT-310 and the PSA-300), allowing it to have a good punch while still being very compact. it features back up iron sights and a 1x scope. it also boasts an adjustable folding stock.
ammo: 7mm PLUS CTA
capacity: 30 rounds
RoF: 900 RPM
modes: semi, 3-rnd burst and full auto
SHOTGUNS:
EAB-405 "Jiboia" (boa constrictor): the EAB-405 (Espingarda de Ação por Bombeamento or Pump-Action Shotgun) is a twin-tube, bullpup shotgun. its ejection port is also its loding gate. thanks to the twin tube design, it has a 12 round capacity (plus one in the chamber). its disvantadge over its counterparts is that it is pump-action instead of semi-automatic; however, the ergonomic design ensures quick pump-action cycling. furthermore, instead of using caseless cartridges, it uses traditional 12-gauge shells; and they are high-brass (overpressure), ensuring maximum power. it is also loaded in a buck 'n ball configuration with a steel, copper-jacketed slug and 00 buckshot, making it effective both at close and close-to-medium ranges.
it must be loaded one round per time.
it features a flip-up red dot sight.
ammo: 12 gauge, high-brass (overpressure), buck & ball
capacity: 12 + 1 rounds
RoF: pump-action
modes: pump-action
SNIPER RIFLES:
FP-290 "Jacaré" (Caiman): the FP-290 (Fuzil de Precisão, or Precision Rifle) is a semi-automatic sniper rifle used by the EB. its powerful 10mm CTA Magnum round is able to damage jeeps and, though it takes two shots in the torso to kill infantry (like its counterparts), if the target is not wearing heavy armor, a single shot will take him down. the FP-290 is renowed for its accuracy and power. the adjustable 5-12x scope features a retractable scope lens cover to protect the lens.
an integrated bipod is present.
it also has a relatively high magazine capacity compared to its counterparts.
ammo: 10mm CTA Magnum
capacity: 10 rounds
RoF: semi-auto
modes: semi-auto
FAM-500 "Sucuri" (Anaconda): the FAM-500 (Fuzil Anti-Material, or AntiMaterial Rifle) is a very powerful antimaterial rifle. the muzzle device helps alleviate the recoil from the beastly 18mm CTA Super Magnum HE-AP (High-Explosive, Armor-Piercing). it is capable of easily killing infantry, destroying light vehicles and even damaging IFVs and MBTs. however, this devastating power is balanced by its single-shot nature, time-consuming reloads and low total ammunition capacity. it features an integrated heavy-duty bipod.
ammo: 18mm CTA Super Magnum HE-AP
capacity: 1 (single shot)
RoF: single shot
modes: single-shot bolt-action
LAUNCHERS:
LMAV-490 "Javali" (Wild Boar): the LMAV-490 (Lança-Mísseis Anti-Veículo, or Anti-Vehicle Missile Launcher) is an anti-tank rocket launcher designed to take out tanks and other armored vehicles. it can be shot both guided and unguided, and is easy to reload. the release button is pressed and the tube is taken off; then a new tube is locked in place. it features and adjustable 1-3x zoom scope and a flip-open digital panel for more information.
it fires an 80mm HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) shaped-charge warhead capable of penetrating and destroying even the most modern armor.
ammo: 80mm HEAT shaped charge missile
capacity: 1 (single shot)
RoF: single shot
modes: guided, unguided
LMAA-495 "Estilingue" (Slingshot): the LMAA-495 (Lança-Míssies Anti-Aéreo, or Anti-Air Missile Launcher) is basically the anti-aircraft version of the LMAV-490. outfitted with a compact forward-facing radar and infrared optical tracking system, its medium-range missiles can reach farther than its counterparts. its missile is also radar-guided as opposed to heat-guided, making it less vulnerable to flares.
ammo: medium-range air-to-air radar-guided missile
capacity: 1 (single shot)
RoF: single shot
modes: single shot
PISTOLS:
- PSA-300 "Tatu" (Armadillo) family:
the PSA-300 "Tatu" family consists of four members:
- the PSA-300 (Pistola Semi-Automática, or Semi-Automatic Pistol) is a smemi-automatic, all-around pistol. it is powerful enough and has good accuracy for a sidearm.
ammo: 7mm CTA
capacity: 13 rounds
RoF: semi-auto
modes: semi-auto
- the PSAS-300 (Pistola Semi-Automática Silenciada, or Semi-Automatic Supressed Pistol) is the PSA-300 with a supressor. the supressor is not very effective due to the use of supersonic ammunition.
ammo: 7mm CTA
capacity: 13 rounds
RoF: semi-auto
modes: semi-auto
- the PAS-300 (Pistola Automática Silenciada, or Automatic Supressed Pistol) is a full auto version. a stock helps with control, but it throws accuracy out of the window. it boasts an extended magazine. the supressor is not very effective due to the use of supersonic ammunition.
ammo: 7mm CTA
capacity: 20 rounds
RoF: 900 RPM
modes: semi-auto, full auto
- the PAST-300 (Pistola Automática Silenciada Tática, or Tactical Automatic Supressed Pistol) is a PAS-300 with a rail system. it features a foldable foregrip and a smaller version of the sight featured in the FAL-345. this scaled-down sight does not feature smart capabilities. the foregrip helps with control and accuracy. the supressor is not very effective due to the use of supersonic ammunition.
ammo: 7mm CTA
capacity: 20 rounds
RoF: 900 RPM
modes: semi-auto, full auto
