I would ask why she is angry but then I remember that Adam is still alive.

So, if there's one thing that drives me nuts, it's when we have a great character who is given nothing to do. Blake's motive was, of course, get back to her parents/lead Adam away from her friends. So, mission accomplished, but then she spends most of the Volume not really doing anything except physically abusing Sun.Β
Definitely not the biggest issue RWBY has, but yeah, I do like that they finally set up her personal plot for V5.Β

The issue I had was that I had assumed her reasoning without actually thinking about it. I did a comic immediately after vol 3 with the whole "I can't be near my friends" reasoning front and center. It was kind of just a "Yeah, she's doing this. We've seen this." So the reveal really wasn't that special to me, there was no mystery behind Blake's actions.
All of that being said, her story felt the most like classic RWBY of the bunch. Kali and Sun were the most humorous characters of the season after episode 1.Β

To be fair Sun was significantly more stupid than usualΒ

Well, I'm not one to play the SJW, but if it were a man smacking a woman, I have the sneaking suspicion it wouldn't be funny.Β

Unless you have a sadistic sense of humour like I do. If so, it's more about the timing of said hit than the person itself.

Blake's episodes were some of my favorites this volume. Not just because she was in them, however - Blake is cool and all, but it was everyone else interacting with her that I really liked. Sun was his goofy self, but he also made some very good points and managed to reignite Blake's fighting spirit together with her parents. Even though Blake's talk with Ghira was pretty much exactly the same as Zuko's talk with Iroh in ATLA, it was still touching and it was nice to finally learn more about her family. Kali was awesome too. She and Sun are totally kindred spirits. XD

I liked Blake's moments, but she was never the best part of them. Usually it was Sun or Kali. "Issue" is a strong word for it, but my issue with Blake's motivation this volume was that, with the exception of going to see her parents, I kind of just assumed it already. I used it in a comic after vol 3.
I do love the "We're going to take back the White Fang" moment at the end. That sounds awesome.

Yep. Like I said, everyone's interactions with Blake were the thing I really liked about her episodes. I think it was totally understandable for her to want to see her parents and figure things out before doing anything else, even though the way she left Vale was pretty cowardly. I have never been a fan of the "run away to protect the people you love" trope because firstly, it never works and secondly, it just makes everyone feel bad before shit hits the fan.
I definitely agree with you on the White Fang thing. I have no idea how Blake is going to gather enough Faunus followers to overthrow the current leader, but at least she seems to have to go to Mistral in order to try. Next volume will be epic.
