Fantastic work! I'm a fan of MLP, Trixie, and Jounrey. I was actually thinking of making something similar to this.

By the way, in case you haven't noticed, you're not allowed to use parts of another piece of art (The "Journey" title) without the original artist's permission.

Why do you feel the need to do this? If I search deviant art for "Journey", the first page alone contains a huge amount of pony images. Just because you like something, and also like ponies, doesn't mean you need to make these things. I don't see any Adventure Time-Journey crossover images, Doctor Who-Journey crossover images, Homestuck-Journey crossover images, or even Hetalia-Journey crossover images. So why ponies?

Look, I don't care what relative of yours is a brony, or what you think they'll do to me.
This artist gets so many comments that they probably don't read them anyway, and plus, by putting something on this site, you are putting it up for comments, positive or negative. As long as it's not actively insulting or threatening the artist, or whining because they disliked your art, it's fair game. If someone doesn't like that? They can just not post it on the internet, can't they?

Does the picture have to do with "Journey"? Then they can add that to the keywords.
Does the artist enjoy "Journey"? Then they can draw that thing if they want to.
Does the artist enjoy "ponies"? Then they can draw ponies.
Had the artist the need to combine two things he/she liked? Then that person is free to do it.
You don't like it? As simple as scrolling down and ignoring the picture. I don't think that's difficult.
π: 0 β©: 1
Amee-The-Astral In reply to yenke [2013-09-05 19:58:00 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it would be easy to ignore, if there weren't about 20 more just searching "Journey" alone. I'd be perfectly fine with this otherwise.
π: 0 β©: 1
yenke In reply to Amee-The-Astral [2013-09-05 20:39:36 +0000 UTC]
But if it has to do with "Journey", the artist will use that keyword even if other people don't like it. It's just a matter of maturity, the will to think of the people who like those ponies too. I'm not someone who really likes them, either. But you'll never see me telling me what they should and shouldn't do.

What I'm saying is, couldn't the artist at least take a look at the search term, and think; "Wow, that's a lot of MLP art. Maybe I should post this on ANOTHER art site, where I'll get just as much attention for it?"
You know, when searching for something, I actually want to see things that aren't mlp. Also, there are sites specifically for this stuff.

Daww, I'm mean for giving an opinion on a (I must say, not actually that well done) image, but someone who is a large part of the millions of brony images that not everyone wants to see? Oh, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have an opinion.
If the artist didn't want criticism, they shouldn't have posted a picture on the internet. Simple.
And if they didn't want people being annoyed at them, they wouldn't ponify everything.

Same goes for any fandom, really. Don't turn everything into your fandom unless you're prepared for people to be annoyed.

Comments are open, so why not a debate?
To be honest, this is the internet. Opinions are thrown around an awful lot out here.
Also, ponies everywhere doesn't really do much good for people trying to host their art and take commissions at least slightly professionally.

If I have a negative opinion, how does that make me any less entitled to express it than a positive one?
Oh, you're one of those people who think that you should only comment on it to say "WOW, THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER, I SHOULD WORSHIP IT IT'S SO GOOD!11!1!" and that anything less is a crime or something.
There's this thing called "keeping your fantasies that no-one cares about or wants to know about to yourself". Most people don't want to search for one of their favorite things and instead find pages of ponies, sonic, fetishes and who knows what else.

Translation: Don't have an opinion because I don't like it. Also, everything with ponies in must be awesome and everyone has to like it.
Also, in case you haven't noticed, the art isn't great, either. It's another one of the 50 thrown together on the search page for "Journey". Β Where's the bigger pony's other eye? Why is there so much of that "shine line" texture that people use when they're being lazy? And why is the "Journey" title a copied and pasted one from the original, recolored green?
π: 0 β©: 1
Minish-Mae In reply to Amee-The-Astral [2013-09-05 20:35:32 +0000 UTC]
1. Trixie's eye is on the other side of her face; she's looking at an angle.Β
2. The artist wasn't lazy, they felt like it'd be a cool effect; which it was.Β
3. It may copied, and changed it to a different color, but its still coolΒ
But whatever. You're obviously not getting what I'm saying. So continue to bash on peoples 'pony' art. Make them fell horrible. You know, I once got bashed by someone that kept sayingΒ
'Why'd you have to draw this'?
'This is a horrible picture because it has [...] in it.'Β
'Don't draw things like this.'Β
'Just stop.'Β
And it made me feel horrible. I'm really touchy when people are jerks to me. Ask any of my friends on here, and they'll tell me about that. You should be old enough to realize what you're doing, bitching about peoples art, is way beyond your age.Β
So grow the fuck up. Leave this person alone. And don't even bother with what they're drawing. It's not like it's killing you.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
Amee-The-Astral In reply to Minish-Mae [2013-09-06 20:29:00 +0000 UTC]
So, just because something's changed to a different colour, it's not stolen from someone else's work? Wow, I guess that puts the rest of your logic into perspective.
I'm not saying it's a horrible picture, I'm saying there are OTHER places for this stuff, and not every search term on this site has to have a million ponies in it. Does this mean that no-one else can happily use this site if they don't like ponies? Well, that's pretty selfish, don't you think?
You can't just think; "WAAH, YOU DON'T LIKE THIS SO YOU'RE BASHING ME AND YOU JUST WANT TO MAKE ME FEEL BAD", you need to think about how the other person sees this. Yes, I know you're upset, but this is a big problem, and not everything is about how the artist feels.Β
I'm going to say this again. Not everyone wants to see nothing but ponies in their search terms. There are other sites specifically for posting pony art. Why does the artist have to take over normal art sites with just pony art instead?
π: 0 β©: 1
Minish-Mae In reply to Amee-The-Astral [2013-09-06 22:20:32 +0000 UTC]
'This is a big problem' Pfft, this aint' a big problem! Real world problems are fucking big problems
And it's like said, if there's a keyword in the title, it's gonna be in the search.Β
Oh, also,Β
You seem to have an extremely skewed idea of freedom of speech. Freedom of speech means that the government can't tell you to shut the fuck up. It doesn't mean that others can't. Critique is a good thing when it'sΒ actually critique. What you're doing is just letting out your frustration of the Journey tag being overrun with MLP artwork. It's not fair to take out that frustration on an artist who is just trying to have fun. And for the record, a good critic critiques content; not subject matter. You don't hear movie critics saying, "This movie was crappy because it's an action film and action films aren't in my personal taste and I'm tired of seeing them." So telling you hiding behind the "but I'm just critiquing" argument is complete asinine when you're really just there to complain and project your frustration from a group of people onto one particular artist and that's just flat-out immature.
Take that into consideration, kay?
π: 0 β©: 1
Amee-The-Astral In reply to Minish-Mae [2013-09-06 23:03:58 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, other people can tell me to shut up, but it doesn't mean they have any authority, and it doesn't mean I have to listen to them.
Oh, and critique can't be about the subject? Β So if someone drew a bright pink Mary sue sparklewolf kissing Sonic, Obama and a dog, you can't say anything about the subject?
Also yes, I'm talking about ON THE INTERNET. Not in real life, because I'm fully aware that there are more important problems. That doesn't mean no-one should make an effort to make the internet a more enjoyable place for everyone, does it? If you were on the receiving end, you would understand. Just because you don't experience a problem, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, it probably means you're part of the problem.
