The Lostie-a-Day-a-Thon : [link]

Life has been busy and these are rather late. Sorry!

Lost is full of tumultuous couples, flings, partners, random sexual encounters and spouses. Aside from Rose and Bernard, there seem to be rather few normal loves on (and off) the Island.

Enter Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore, whose 'business' makes even Richard Alpert cringe and roll his eyes and label as 'complicated.' Their (ferocious? Bitchy? Bizarre?) love spawned one of the coolest Losties, though, so all is forgiven.

Eloise has proven to be a fascinating character. We first see her as an ambiguous ring lady haunting Desmond's visions, and badly photoshopped into a picture with that monk fellow. Because of these initial tastes, it was more of a treat to see her in season 5, slowly revealed. A gun-totin' badass chick in the 50s, Dan's crazy mum with an ominous smile and underground lair in present day, and as the hardcore leader of the Others in the rockin' 70s.

Widmore... Widmore is not a lovable character. He's gruff, seemingly heartless, intimidating, mysterious, and willing to do what it takes to get what he wants. Even more so than Eloise, Widmore has been an interesting character to watch evolve. You could always have a sense that there was something much deeper and darker to his character than just a power-hungry man in a suit... somehow, it wasn't a huge shock to see him pop up later on in such a different context.

What was the full story of Widmore, and of Eloise? There seems to be nothing but bitterness between them by their visit in 'The Variable.' Who does Eloise work with, or for? What are her goals? What about Widmore? Who are the good guys?

My new catchphrase "hopefully season 6 will bring us some answers!" seems to sum it up.

One thing I've always loved about Lost is the casting of younger versions of a known character. Sometimes it's absolutely perfect; teenaged Locke and young Ben couldn't have been better if they'd time-teleported a youthful Terry and Michael. Eloise and Widmore posed an interesting issue; three ages, and three different actors.

Widmore's portayers somehow all have the SAME upsidedown-smile of a scowl. Seriously, I thought 70s Widdy was just Alan Dale with a wig on for the longest time. Little Chuck also looks just like the kid who played Paul on Coronation St. Just saying.

Doing the Lost re-watch! Just finished 'Solitaire.' Good GOD, Sayid is a great character. Though I hate to admit it, s1 makes me want Kayid really badly. Seriously, that would have been a badass combo. Also, it was before Kate became completely irritating

Was it just me or was young Widmore a total fox haha

Yeah the funny thing with Widmore is though, that his character changes dramatically with every age. Teen widmore is a lil slytherin bitch, and then adult Widmore is like a Rohan man, and finally old Widmore is just cold, empty, buisness robot... weird. But I acctaully love him and I love Ellie, I can't wait to see more of their angst/powerhungry love (we better too!)

Yay for the epic rewatch! Sadly, I am doing it with a bunch of friends, so, due to scheduling issues, them and I are still on Walkabout.

Awesome duo these two I liked the young Widmore, but for some reason that actor seemed like a really kind, warm person, haha, I just got that impression, but he sure looks like Widmore!

By the way, which season is "Solitaire" from?

You know what I've always wondered? Daniel Faraday is the son of Charles Widmore and Eloise Hawking... where in crap did his last name come from? (I mean, I love love love Daniel, but... it confuses me a bit.)

Okay season finale, I wished I had tiVO because when Eloise shot Dan I needed to pause the television. I still can't even formulate words as to how " " I felt.

Not even the ice cream made it better...

Awesome sauce art. Oh the bitchery 1950s and 1970s Ellie and Whidmore(throughout all time)

What I still don't get is how Hawking+Widmore=Faraday.

And oh season one pairings. Jack/Kate wasn't completely full of annoyingness, before Charlie showed an interest in Claire I was a Claire/Hurley fan. I'm even developing a nostalgia for my three week Jack/Sawyer phase. wow... I love season one!

This is fabulous! I love Eloise and Chaz and they look awesome here.

Ever since s3, I found Ms. Hawking to be an interesting character. At the time I thought she was something of a one-shot character that we would never see again, but I still found her fascinating (I remember reading one of the producers describe her as some sort of temporal policeman). So it was great to see her again in s5, and to see how her character progressed throughout the span of several decades.

And ditto with thinking 1970s Widdy was played by the same actor who played modern Widdy. xD Charles is a character I genuinely love to hate-- he's a cold-hearted SOB and no matter what goes down I know I'm going to be on Ben's side. ><

But the real mystery is how these two produced such a sweet, meek, wuvable son. xD
