If I had more time maybe. I do have visions for Harley and Mr Freeze already that I´d like to get done but right now I have too much on my plate.

I really like this one. It's my favorite out of the redesigns you did.
Its the pose and the values. It's very dramatic.

Well, well, well. While you may not be a fan of the character yourself, I happen to be something of a Riddler aficionado and expert. Though I'll agree that writers often don't know what to do with him (for example his masterstroke in Hush was underwritten by...well, the eponymous character), Edward is perhaps one of the most intriguing of Batman's rogues precisely because he can straddle lines. He's deathly serious when you come down to it and yet he's entirely playful with purpose in direct opposition to the whimsy of Joker's chaos. He can play a game and give a message and test the untestable with a fix that ought to be completely over the heads of most. And yet for all his complexities the answer's often simple. A mere test, a running score board, setting said board not for the short term...certainly not a best two out of three, but for something far grander.
Eddie's bombastic and yet collected, a charming customer lacking in social graces due to a deflated sense of self worth who revels in crafting conundrums. Standing above the lesser, run of the mill criminals. He truly is the E. Nigma for the world's greatest detective to solve. And perhaps that's why I'm -hoping- that Snyder can finally do him some justice rather than relegating him to working strictly within his gimmick (though Ray Fawkes did a fairly good job of working the riddles into his actions rather than absolute clues as most people fall into). As a Riddler fan, I would suggest Batman 23.2 and I'm sure he'll shine in Zero Year. ANYHOW! This Noir series is fantastic! You've really caught that atmosphere of the conniver, the plotter, the Moriarty to Bruce's Holmes. A character shaded in the ambiguity he so chooses.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I´m not a big fan of how he´s been shown in the comics but he´s one of the characters with the most potential so while I´m not a fan I am still interested in him. It´s always great to get to read the thoughts of the beholder of the work you put out there so thank you for taking some time to write this stuff down, it means a lot in this age of click-like-and-move-on.

It was my pleasure. A bit of work like that serves as some very vivid food for thought and I think it's only fair to share my own. I think you and I can only hope that a proper writer can get a grasp of what the Riddler's about 'mystery' with a dash of panache. Maybe it's the first part that seems to elude most. After all, it's hard to sell a man that's a cipher in the medium at times and most of all every writer from Dini to Snyder admits the character's only as smart as the writer...and as every one of them has said 'Riddles are hard to write!'. Still, I do have a feeling that in spirit, Snyder understands Edward's inner workings, the fact that a riddle for the sake of a riddle is no challenge at all. Rather it should be a classic 'game' in the sense that it pits two challengers against one another, to place the hero in a setting in which he must prove himself or face the consequences. A trial, a mystery to be unbound bit by bit that elevates the stakes. And yet to an egomaniac such as Nigma? He's -serving- the people in his own arrogant way, giving them a service he believes they so direly need: Education. Not by any curriculum or any norm, but by necessity in most cases. His games force individuals to expand their thought process significantly. The simple becomes complex and the complex simple, all is misleading. And for a man who values wit so much that places him on a very high personal pedestal indeed.
Apologies for the bit of rambling, I just really enjoyed the piece and always relish the opportunity to talk about the character at length. Keep up the fantastic work, my friend!

I have to say out of your Noir series, this one captures my attention the most. I'm not sure why. I've always had some love for the riddler, so that may be the reason but I think the way you drew him shows a more serious and highly respectable side of him. Many put him off as a goofy guy and I know he can be, but I find the riddler to be more dangerous then what he lets off. This spotlights this fact most definitely. I don't know, just a few shared thoughts. Beautiful piece all the same!

Thank you very much, I think you caught on to some things I wanted to show with this one. I´ve never liked The Riddler because I thought they pretty much only used him as a goofball but he has so much potential to be one of the more dangerous and interesting villains.

Thanks! I´ve never really liked the Riddler myself because I thought they always missed out on a character with great potential. In this setting he´s the nemesis of Batman. A Moriarty character.
