Nice work dude. I was about to expose my ignorance in suggesting that I thought binoculars were anachronistic for civil war era but I did some quick research and realized that they did have those in that form then. Of course you already knew that you big war history buff, you.

Yeah, turns out binoculars are almost as old as telescopes.
They also had machine guns and submarines in the Civil War! Okay, the machine guns were Gatling guns and they hardly ever used them. And there was one submarine, and it sank. But still, not bad for the mid 19th century.

Weapons of warfare and their history I tend to know more about. Binoculars? Just seemed more modern to me.
