Koryonos, 'The leader of the warband' in Indo-European. This translation does not do the depth of word justice, the grammar does not only make the Koryonos the 'leader' of the warband, he is 'the ONE of the warband', he is the spiritual embodiment of the entire sworn band, who would bear great shame should they not join him in death. He leads the Koryos not only in battle, but in most important ritual and sacrifice. Odin bears the Heiti or sacred name Herjann, which is cognate with Koryonos. Odin is the leader of the sacred warband, the warband of the dead warriors, the Wild Hunt. In certain cult images, a nude Odinic figure appears dancing with weapons, often two spears in each hand, and wearing a horned headdress.
